We're talking about how the Republican Party enacts horrifying anti-LGBTQ laws, like yesterday's new law in Florida, which allows any doctor, pharmacist, EMT, or insurer to refuse to provide any medical care to any LGBTQ person.
The Democratic Party, OTOH, enacts laws that protect LGBTQ people.
You said the difference between the two parties is insignificant to you. You don't care. It is your right to say that.

Even if people are not LGBTQ+ you are still impacted by these laws, you may have friends, collegues, family or extended family who are directly impacted, A family member is just that even if close or part of extended family, if they were to due to being refused medical care, you are still affected.
Collegues are also members of your team, so bring their own expertise, you lose the expertise, a friend, etc
Politics imacts everyone in one way or another.
