Small milestone in degeneration: today I went to the shelf and got down a dictionary of quotations to track down something I half remembered, rather than even trying to Google it first, because I knew Google would be useless.

Nothing wrong with this, in fact doing it this way means you can cite an actual resource of information that is credible
I think this can apply to both a physical book / dictionary OR a e-copy of the same or similar book.
