The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect on 25th May 2018, and it was a huge day for our data rights - and our inboxes being flooded with companies asking us to stay on their mailing list.
What’s happened in the past 5 years?
GDPR strengthens rights of individuals with regard to the protection of their data, and empowers people to fight data exploitation.
At PI, we’ve had a tonne of success using GDPR mechanisms to stand up to abuses of our privacy and data rights, by Big Tech, surveillance companies and governments alike. A lot of our work since has been guided by this legislation.
