Let's review:

Twitter is now a full-on far right propaganda site, and most recently had Ron DeSantis on with the billionaire owner to launch his presidential campaign.

Jack, coincidentally another billionaire and crypto guy, is now posting QAnon conspiracy theories on BlueSky, where they are apparently fine with Nazis but don't worry you can toggle the hate group visibility off for your personal feed or whatever

Here on the Fediverse, we have a surprising number of people wanting to "wait and see" what the #Meta app will be about, despite the billionaire owner's well-documented history of supporting far-right causes, not to mention psychologically manipulating users and driving societal division.

If we let them in, we will lose the heart of what is maybe the largest community-run space we have ever had. People on federated servers will quickly begin performing for Meta's algorithms in order to get engagement from the billion or so people on their platform, and the culture that has been nurtured here will shrivel and die.

I know I keep talking about this, and I'm sorry to fill people's feeds with this stuff. But I'm really, really worried about the continued existence of our connections and our community that we've built together.

I really like this place. It's far from perfect, but we're committed to making it better together. I'm begging you. Please don't let the robot billionaire come in and fuck it up.
