I think you raise a really important point here, as we need the next generation to embrace the fediverse.

If I understand most kids need to be 13 + or older to have most social media accounts some are 16+ so at 10, it is too young. I am not sure what the exact rules are here.

Is it possible to set up a single user server, so they can experiment and learn in a way that, for now is isolated from the rest of the fedi?

Something that perhaps needs to be considered longer term as it would be a great way to learn if there could be a server set up in collaboration with a school to help facilitate communication between classmates.
