Organ transplant patient dies after receiving Covid-infected lungs.
This is the first proven case in the US in which the #Covid virus was transmitted via an organ transplant, prompting calls for more thorough testing of donors.
I would assume that the Lungs came from a person who had passed away, in which case how long does the virus survive with a host that is dead?
This could impact testing and testing results of course. ?
@zleap Organ donors are brain-dead, but typically their bodies are still alive up until immediately before the donated organs are collected. It is extraordinarily unlikely that the donated lungs came from a "dead host."
