The realization that Apple made Google pay them $15+ billion dollars a year to keep Google as the default search across their products is one of those things that I feel silly for not understanding previously. It's consistent with literally everything Apple has ever done, yet has pretty strong ramifications for how they really feel about the privacy of their users.

It's one thing to cash a Google check that everyone who refers traffic to Google gets, but Apple demanding a
larger cut of the revenue their users earn for Google is a completely different thing.

How does this not look absolutely terrible to people?

Imagine what we could do if that money was directed for public good.

Proper healthcare for millions
Proper education for millions
A judicial system that actually works properly
Decent investment in science / technology research and development
etc, etc
