Perhaps opposition parties need to look in to the NASA Osiris-Rex mission, this was completed on schedule AND underbudget so if they can do it, then it proves it is possible to do things properly. What can they learn from this and how can they apply some of this learning to projects they will undertake while in office?

@zleap Nice thought! However, politicians these days exist mainly to make BigBiz happy, which means giving them more money in all kinds of "creative" ways.

@Miro_Collas Good point, Given NASA is funded by US taxpayers, may be we can find more examples of where projects have been delivered on tine and budget. We need people to be asking questions in the UK to force change here, we are so used to incompetence it is just normalised I guess.

@zleap I agree, it is needed, desperately! My fear is that labour, under Starmer, is "Tories Lite". The Powers That Be ensured that any meaningful opposition would be prevented from doing anything.
Same situation exists in the US, of course, where Bernie was stopped (albeit in a different way).

@zleap Btw to address this directly, I *believe* (I don't know) that much of what NASA does is built in-house, rather than being contracted out. Right there is why is costs MUCH less, works well, and is on time. Contractors will try to maximize profits, while NASA doesn't have that aim, it isn't a business.
In short, HS2 should be built in-house. But under capitalism, that won't happen.Similarly, rail, water etc should be nationalised, but that too won't happen.
