Then of course no one did anything,
So their website is
https://www.euromedmonitor.org/en
I am not questioning this post, but given the amount of fake news / mis / dis information.
How legit / reliable is the Euro-Med Monitor ?
@zleap @exador23 And it's worth point out that this is the actual quote on their website.
"Additionally, several testimonies which Euro-Med Monitor has yet to verify claim that the Israeli army used tightly controlled white phosphorus munitions in areas in the southern Gaza Strip.'
So it does not have evidence. It has unverified hearsay. So let's go very easy on the suggestion. It's not outside the bounds of possiblity, but it's no more than a claim.
+1 this is why | asked rather than reacting in a certain way.
Once confirmed we can discuss here
The much more well known and respected New York based organization Human Rights Watch has now joined Euro-Med Monitor in saying white phosphorous weapons were used by Israel.
They claim to have verified the videos and interviewed witnesses.

Fully agree, it seems we on Mastodon have a huge amount of humanity towards the Palestinian people and we can see the true horror of what is going on, at the same time I see very little suport for Hamas, sympathy for the victims of Saturdays massacre but zero support for the actions of the Isreali governments response.
Lets see what happens and prepare some nice big graphics with the simple words "TOLD YOU SO!!"
LLoyd Austin and the Isreali politician, I can't help thinking they are pointing the finger at Iran over this, and saying they are somehow involved, while offering ZERO actual hard evidence. History is repeating itself here as they pulled the same BS in 2001 with the illigal iraq invasion.
LLoyd Austin seemed to also dodge some of the questions about the illegal actions to say he will let his counterpart answer, which of course he didn't
What I am also fearing is they will find some excuse to bomb Iran, and I mean any excuse, they can plant evidence so they can blame Iran then go in and kill thousands more people, destroy another sovergn UN nation, remove the legit government of a soveign country and possibly destroy important cultural and world heritage sites at the same time.
@zleap @exador23 I disagree. The US is in a very different place from where it was under Bush and Trump, even Obama. It is inconceivable that Blinken and the rest of the Biden administration would push for a wider war, especially with Europe in such a dangerous place, a embers smouldering in the Pacific. And, as you say, the link to Iran is tenuous at best, for all the conspiracist ranting from the Trumpies and Bannonies about how "Biden is funding Iran".
Good point, and I hope you are right in this and also hope that Israel show restraint i n not provoking a wider conflict, either intentionally or by miscalculation.
I was just repeating this Al Jazeera reporting. should have included the link
@exador23 @sellathechemist @zleap except you weren't. You were contributing to the fog of war with unverified claims. If you'd read the link you posted you'd have seen they did not have evidence. Yet your post flatly says evidence.
It's how even well meaning intentions can be used to further disinfo compaigns.
@pixelpusher220 @exador23 @sellathechemist
Which is why I was asking for more verification, as it stands lets just wait to see what confirmation we get.
Could be much more difficult once the power goes out at hospitals.
@zleap @exador23 @sellathechemist wait n see would have been a good idea before his post.
Amazing the blinders people get
@zleap My comment was directed at the original post - I was agreeing with your view.
Thanks, and no problem
@pixelpusher220 @sellathechemist @zleap
what are you talking about. "Rights group Euro-Med Monitor says it has evidence that Israel has been firing banned white phosphorous in Gaza, after videos emerged of it being used in the city." that is verbatim what the link I posted says.
Which is exactly what my original post says. I simply added "Geneva based independent human rights group" after checking their wikipedia page.
@exador23 @sellathechemist @zleap your parroting false claims without verifying them. And then falling back to "I'm just asking questions" type deflection.
That's how disinformation works using unsuspecting ppl such as yourself.
@pixelpusher220 @sellathechemist @zleap
WTF are you talking about? I'm about to banhammer.
Al Jazeera is a legit news source. I 100% stand by "Euro-Med Monitor says it has evidence that Israel has been firing banned white phosphorous in Gaza."
that is very different than saying white phosphorous was definitively used. And it is newsworth. And it is true. Here's their post. https://twitter.com/EuroMedHR/status/1712067750665867404
@exador23 @sellathechemist @zleap
No it's not true. Their article says they have 'unverified claims' not *evidence*.
Ban hammer away... And maybe think a bit b/c that article is literally Trump's "many people are saying" levels of 'true'.
It's disinfo 101 whether true or not. And blindly repeating it *without* context as you did is exactly what this relies on.
@pixelpusher220 @sellathechemist @zleap
and now I see you've edited your post that I already replied to. saying that I did not read my own link. moving to goalpost to say I did not read some other link which was never provided by you or anyone else on this thread - only quoted.
that is bad, misleading juju.
@zleap inre the organization itself, this is all the info you should need to come to your own conclusion https://www.ngo-monitor.org/ngos/euro_mediterranean_human_rights_network_emhrn_/
Scanning through they seem to be pretty legit, and if Al Jazeera are quoting citing them, then any info must be trusted by that network too,
Thanks
Will be interesting to get confirmation then see if more main stream channels report this too.
@zleap No-one ever gets prosecuted for it. The Israeli government used it on Gaza on 2009. They denied it for months before they issued a report confirming it.
