#WritersCoffeeClub 23/11. Profanity in your work?
I’m very sparing with it, not because I’m squeamish, but because overuse of familiar swear words would feel too contemporary for my imaginary future world. So mostly I use made-up words like ‘draff’ or ‘gossan’. But I will drop the occasional f-bomb because there’s just no other word that does the same job. Writers who shun it aren’t using every tool in the box.
