@pvonhellermannn
A year ago, this headline would have related to Ukraine, which the media seems to have forgotton about, thankfully we get updates here on what is going on.
@pvonhellermannn @zleap I dont think people dying care very much whos sponsoring the bombs. In Ukraine people die because our governments dont supply enough ammunition.
I think also the Ukraine war is way more important geopolitically and certainly for europe.
We should hear from both wars everyday.
@hanscees @pvonhellermannn @zleap I’m not sure about the ‘’more important bit”, but I’d like to expand on what you mention - that we should here about both conflicts - adding that we should hear about ALL conflicts everyday, because in a global economy all conflicts have deep geopolitical consequences.
@alx @pvonhellermannn @zleap I agree in principle, but my psyche would melt from that much suffering I am afraid
@alx @hanscees @pvonhellermannn @zleap from en equality perspective I see what you mean, but it's also naive to think that people would be able to cope. Depression would increase tenfold, especially among children and young people, and the fact is that a lot of us can't do shit about it other than ranting on social media and boycotting products/stores. The immense stress and helplessness of hearing about every war every day would kill humanity.
@craftycat @hanscees @pvonhellermannn @zleap I hear you. I believe in itself the impossibility of coping awareness that we all share should be our strength to change it for the better. Keeping our eyes away and pretending nothing’s happening will only increase the ugliness of the world that is the cause of our dire mental health.
@alx @hanscees @pvonhellermannn @zleap The people who will suffer most are not the ones who can make that change happen, that one is mostly on our governments and they don't care. And while the idea of making a better world so others don't have to suffer is admirable, most of the west electing nazi governments despite all of the innocents who will suffer for it suggests that people are far too selfish for that to ever work. Drownimg ourselves in all the horrors of the world isn't the answer.
@craftycat @hanscees @pvonhellermannn @zleap well, government won’t change if nobody changes. Cultural shift are collective endeavours, meaning everyone has to play their part.
Anyway, I guess you are stretching that a lot because having the media covering all conflicts doesn’t mean forcing everyone to read that particular news. I’m not advocating for everyone to engage with all that, but for media to do their job equally.
So, no, mental health and good and equal media coverage aren’t exclusive
@craftycat @alx @pvonhellermannn @zleap I have blocked some things here since they totally swamp my time line and wipe away other things more positive. A balance act really.
@zleap the difference being that this is sponsored and endorsed byour governments
