The Interpreters' Co-op is looking for #Burmese #interpreters who are comfortable with remote interpretation. Boosts appreciated!

If you’ve been laid off, please let me tell you something.

The best chances for landing your next gig are not through LinkedIn, Indeed, or anything like that. It’s through the people you’ve worked with before.

Start there. Keep checking in with them periodically. Don’t worry that you’ll be a bother, because they’d want the same from you.

And please, PLEASE be gentle on yourself. Job hunting and interviewing is hard and a deeply flawed, chaotic process.

@juddlegum gender identity is any gender at all, this is a ploy to ban reading by people who hate books

We're at T-28 hours for JWST Cycle 2... submissions are ramping up! Credit to Molly Peeples for this plot, as always.

Caveat: none of these numbers are exact and are based on user-reported data (see my previous toot for a link).

Today marks my 5 years on fedi! 🍰

5 years already from that first post way back on niu.moe. Met many wonderful people and had so much fun since then. Every day I'm grateful for the fediverse and all the great friends I've made along the way

Here's to many more years!

Personally, I hope that people realize the implied *"if neccessary" while also satiricaly rasing attention to the rise of #Fascism worldwide and the immediate threat of #ChristianNationalism in the USA. I made sure to boost your post because I thought the warning was warranted.

I haven't been in a fight since an elementary schoolbus, and there were plenty of stupid opportunities to do so but chose to deescalate the situation. I did have to suplex a guy one time because he was bumping my chest with increasing intensity, but he scattered off and it was over.

I am committed to non-violent protest, but realize there might be a time where that is no longer an option. I hope not, but I committed to preventing my daughters from growing up in #Gilead.

I love that you can run the #GodotEngine editor on #SteamDeck (although it's a bit impractical without connecting a external monitor).

Great way to debug hardware-specific stuff!

Pro-tip for job seekers: "unlimited vacation" usually means two things:

1. We allow it if your manager approves (good luck with that)
2. When you quit/get fired, we don't have to pay for unpaid vacation time.

I can't say who, but I know of one very large, well-known corporation who used point #2 to save themselves a ton of money.

From the end of January, #Microsoft will stop selling #Windows10 licenses so people will be forced to get #Windows11, and you really shouldn't. Windows 10 already was an atrocious operating system when it came out in 2015, but Windows 11 is worse in many aspects, this video from @switchedtolinux explains it really well. Take this channel's name as an advice to escape from Microsoft's proprietary garbage and start using #Linux and #FreeSoftware.
