We need a new tool to help onboard communities to Mastodon. Who's up to create it?
There are great tools to find and one-click follow people from the bird site.
Needed next: Think a google sheet like the ones for academic fields (see link), but with better UX like being continuously available for one-click following as new names are added.
This is needed and could easily become a paid project.

The UK Daily mail has run an article on Ron DeSantis today
Fleetin mention of 'banning books' however no mention of the fact teachers could face 3rd degree felony charges for not removing books that are not bought from a set supplier or approved.
Also from scanning the article no mention of girls having to hand over Mensural data.
The book banning has had consequences beyond his war on LGBTQA+ as it seems that any non approved book has been banned, which is kinda different.
I am sure someone here has mentioned a child sex offence too, so no mention of that either.
Hi
That shot could be from another planet, great stuff, nature is wonderful.

@irisRichardson That is pretty cool, macro shows up so much detail.
Shame FB / Twitter is so immature, but what do you expect,
Stick to fedi for intellectual content eh
The difference is being open about knowing people and how you know them.
Meanwhile they seem incapable of removing content that is is illegal in many countries.

NIST is hiring for a sysadmin. Note that this is a 4-year term position, but it is a remote job!

If you click on the ... you can copy / paste some html that will embed the post in to a page. It works with @writefreely
I would recommend editing the html if needed as default with is 400, you can also add height="height" manually.
hope this helps
No idea if this works with content management systems,
Apparently there is now a genuine "Mastodon For Dummies" book:
It's a real physical book, it's in bookshops and libraries! Depending on where you live, it's out now or out this week.
I haven't read it (yet) but the index seems promising and they even cover non-Mastodon Fediverse platforms including lesser known ones like @inventaire
(Thanks to @technomancy for highlighting this release!)
Lots of people would just build their own silo of data that they can keep locked up for themselves. Some people would add things to Google Maps without fully understanding that that means Google takes control and ownership. Or some would do the same with Ordnance Survey data. But I want to use something with a genuinely open licence and a big community so that even if OSM disappeared tomorrow, all the existing map data would still be available.
Twitter reportedly lays off 200 more employees

Is there no end to Elon Musks contempt for other people sacking employees then tweeting
As staff learned of their fate, Mr Musk tweeted: "Hope you have a good Sunday. First day of the rest of your life."
