Given what is going on in the USA, and other countries, this is very important. Sad thing is the US wants to be seen as a beacon of democracy and the GOP is doing the total opposite, where the US leads others with sadly follow.

Today is the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia #IDAHOBIT2023
Today we draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex people, and all of those with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, and sex characteristics.
The theme for this year is “Together always: united in diversity”
While I don' agree with them doing this, it proves the point that centralisation takes control away from you, and demonstrates 'there is no cloud, just someone elses computer'
Can fedi take advantage of this and see if we can get more people to move this content to peertube.
On another note, it does prove that big tech is capable of finding and removing content, so they can do this with dodgy / illegal content too.

Can you do this? There are lots of resources out there that are aimed at a very specific group of people, people with lived experience to share this experiences and help others.
I would encourage you to go for it, perhaps see what else is out there, so you can share stories and expertise, if the audience is there they will appreciate it.

If you like 🦋, you'll love this.
Quote: "We #sequenced 391 #genes from nearly 2,300 #butterfly species, sampled from 90 countries and 28 specimen collections, to reconstruct a new #phylogenomic tree of #butterflies representing 92% of all #genera."
OA 🔗: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41559-023-02041-9
In order to #conserve #nature, we need to know what's out there and how #species are related to each other.
And have a look at one of the most (fittingly) #beautiful #phylogenetic trees you'll ever see👇🏼
@alex I have toot on the bash command line.

Are you on a tiny or single-person server and want more content to browse through?
1. Join Groups, these actively push all their content to all followers no matter which server they are on. More info: https://fedi.tips/how-to-use-groups-on-the-fediverse/
2. Ask your admin to subscribe to relays. If they say these take up too many resources, ask them to look at new topic-specific feed services. More info: https://fedi.tips/using-relays-to-quickly-expand-a-servers-view-of-the-fediverse/
3. Follow people via directories, they are server-neutral. More info: https://fedi.tips/how-do-i-find-accounts-to-follow-on-mastodon-and-the-fediverse-how-do-i-find-my-friends/

Has the World Health Organization declared the #COVID19 pandemic over?
"It has not. The pandemic has been downgraded from the highest alert level and is no longer considered a public health emergency of international concern. But the WHO says the pandemic is ongoing and remains a global health risk."
I read it as that too, good naming fail eh, but memorable. So maybe it isn't as big a fail.
Disgusting, and the west tries to tell Russia, N Korea and other countries how to behave.

If I were rich, I would simply start a class-action lawsuit against corporations and the uberwealthy for not paying their fair share of taxes. Why should MY measly millions support THEM?
Perhaps the next person to apply for a job working with trump should be a black belt in kung fu, just leave off resume and application documents. That way, if he tries anything he can be given a good kick in a certain region, which may enforce the hands off, of course if he makes a comment the same kick should to his mouth (big enough target)
Really nice. we have grey herons in the Uk, but these are beauties :)

Presidential pardons as a $2 million side-hustle, it seems Giuliani and Trump were apparently running the Oval Office like it was a fire sale at a shady pawn shop, allegations of sexual assault the grim cherry atop this dystopian sundae.

@zleap It's great advice, and something I have failed to do historically. I have tended to update my resume only in between jobs and when you do that you tend to forget a lot of things.
If you keep it up to date it is a good way to remind your self what you have done and what needs updating.
I am sure in a lot of cases when you do a few courses then dropping a new version in to HR can do no harm, as it shows you are keen to keep skills up to date.

I haven’t used #Windows as a daily driver in more than 5 years, so when I look at it, it’s with the eyes of someone who is not used to its weird, or, frankly, bad, design. I’ve worked in UX for 10 years, and some decisions Windows made are really sub-par.
And still, the bad user experience of Windows has a negative impact on #Linux desktops. Here is why!
