"How far did my post go on the Fediverse?"
Interested in how far your post travels on Mastodon, et al? An interesting read from @Edent
Includes Python code if you want to try this yourself. A nice starter project. Well done!

I think AI has a lot of potential, just keep it out of te hands of big tech, who will simply use it to exploit people.
The use of generative AI is being "highly explored" in healthcare and has great promise for a variety of applications, but it needs to be scrutinized closely, said Erik Decker, vice president and CISO of Intermountain Health and a cybersecurity adviser to the federal government. https://www.healthcareinfosecurity.com/interviews/ai-in-healthcare-promising-but-not-magic-i-5297
Lets get this to 400 votes before tomorrow :)
I think @peachfront was talking historically, the KKK et al have existed for decades. Social media is just a new tool to them to recruit new members. Only that is also helped by right wing media, possibly poor or lack of education and of course upbringing.
In the UK many of these groups are banned, membership and association included. They can't generally use free speech to justify their actions. I think people have said here on fedi that after WWII many countries quite rightly banned association with NAZIs and their thinking, while the USA didn't, perhaps citing the beloved first amendment and that has led to the issues we see today.
Something has to change, does the first amendment or free speech have limitations or is it a free for all to say what you want with impunity and people just tolerate it as if it is normal?

But do they show the long and winding road ?
@rolle I think we lost the ability to share knowledge a bit in real life. You can't ask for knowledge anymore, you'll get a snubby "look it up on the internet" thing. and I think the criticizing and know-it-all thing on the internet is a product of it. dunno, maybe I'm wrong.
I think it is about balance, quite a few forums will answer questions IF you have tried to look it up first, there is no harm is saying I would like to do this, according to the solution at X it suggests this (insert url) am I right in thinking that if I want to do Y I need to set the software up this way.
However at times, you need help just figuring out the correct search term, especially when you try and look up a problem with Debian or Ubuntu and the solution you end up with is for a old or obsolete version, even when you have tried to say this is for ubuntu 22.04 for example.
I can fully understand why people get frustrated.
the fucking Salvation Army sent us paper mail asking for donations
a lot of people don't realize that it is a religious organization (it's right there in the name) with a strong anti-queer agenda. we have friends who've been personally affected by the discriminatory manner in which they provide services and by the hateful conduct of their staff.
donate to local food banks and shelters, not to the Salvation Army. thank you.
Lewis Latimer joined the Edison Electric Light Company in 1884. By this time, Edison had already invented the incandescent light bulb, but there were significant challenges that still needed to be addressed to make it more practical and commercially viable.
One of the significant limitations of Edison’s initial design was the use of bamboo as a filament. This filament did not have a very long lifespan and was not the most efficient design.
