Medieval humans were a sorry lot. In addition to uncurable disease they lived in a virtual sewer of filth, with open sewers and bad water.
Crowded communities were a zoo of disease and infections requiring horrible applications of medical procedures based on superstition and total ignorance.
Personal hygiene was a luxury afforded few.
Sometimes I think about this when taking my morning shower and being thankful that what is now routine was, at one time, never imagined.

My son and I went to the video gaming / esports event at the local university. They were giving away loads of snacks, energy drinks, etc. The energy drinks they were giving out have a warning label that indicates it's not safe for those under 18, or with a huge list of health conditions. It has 3x as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. And they're giving it away to kids and college students??!?!
Those rising cardiac death rates among the young are starting to make sense. #esports #videogames

Can’t we all just live in peace without borders?
A good first step as it should allow affordable energy and all money to be reinvested in new energy infrastructure.
A first step as perhaps we need to do the same for water, railways etc, water especially as they are making huge profits, paying shareholders dividends but still dumping sewage in to water courses during dry conditions and not investing in infrastructure but want to raise bills further to pay for it.
As Fergal Sharkey has asked, where has the money for this gone?

Is this just a coincidence or has this happened while the worlds eyes are distracted by what is going on in Isreal and Gaza?
It does seem this has been forgotton about, I would guess the same goes for the earthquakes, makes news for a week or two, then nothing, as if everything has suddenly gone back to normal.

This is a heartbreaking read on the war in Israel and Gaza. Written by an Israeli journalist who lives near Gaza border, & survived with wife & 2 young kids in safe room amid attacks.
Many, many innocent people will die on both sides. It’s a tragedy some treat like a football game.
I think it has got to the point where negotiations are not going to get anywhere, Israeal, having vowed vengence, they are going to have to go through with it, or look weak on the international stage.
But we surely can't have bombing of civilians, if they need to hunt down and find members of Hamas then they need to do it the hard way and put boots on ground.
International law still applies here, Hamas can choose to ignore this but Israel can't, and neither can allies as we are all signed up to international law on not attacking civilians, we can't back Israel while at the same time condeming Russia for doing this in Ukraine.
