Either Hamas are trying to use Palestinians as human shields by ordering them not to move, (This will be the western narrative). OR they understand the dangers this will pose and are trying to keep the people safer.

They should be safe in side UN compounds, which are usually well marked on maps, well marked from the air and ground so to avoid them being targeted.

The EU intends to add surveillance to end-to-end encrypted chats, including the use of AI powered scanners that should (generically) detect Child Sexual Abuse Material and grooming & report to Europol. Yesterday, I presented on this terrible proposal in a hearing of the Dutch parliament. Here is an English transcript of my very plain language explanation of how bad this all is: berthub.eu/articles/posts/clie /cc @echo_pbreyer

@zleap My comment was directed at the original post - I was agreeing with your view.

@PaulDitz

Don't forget chemical weapons Napalm, Agent orange (was it) in vietnam. Used against civilians, the former was documented in the famouse Napalm girl image.

Given the population density of Gaza, how the hell can 1.1 million just relocate to south Gaza, Aljazera is reporting that Isreal has given this order. Surely this is just totally unrealistic and will cause more suffering esp if the aid agencies have to relocate.

There is no fuel for vehicles, so what are they meant to do carry those who are currently in ICU or severly injured?

@danielgoyal

They are still violations of international law, it seems some countries just don't apply that very equally.

Looks like more confirmation and not just in Gaza

Israel has used white phosphorus in military operations in Gaza and Lebanon, putting civilians at risk of serious and long-term injuries.

White phosphorus causes excruciating burns and can set homes afire. Its use in populated areas is unlawful.

Well yes, but with Iraq the lack of stable or any government, police, military allowed all the various groups to run unchecked, but yes with Afghanistan, it didn't take long after the west left for the Taliban to get back in.

So my 12 year old cousin lives 0.6 miles from his middle school and has no idea how to walk there or back. Nor even the direction it is.

Its literally like 1 turn as well, not some crazy complicated street layout.

I cannot believe how little he knows about his own neighborhood, and its obviously caused by my aunt/uncle driving him everywhere.

Just looked up about the Battle of StalinGrad on Wikipedia and am thinking are there parallels between this and what is going on in Gaza

Maybe this should a warning to both sides as to what could happen in the days / weeks / months ahead

I am happy to announce that I am now officially part of the Mastodon core team, as CTO of Mastodon gGmbH (the non-profit developing the project).

Thank you @gargron for trusting me!

In this role, I will provide technical direction for the project, overview the infrastructure and streamline the contributing experience, as I have been doing since the start of the year.

Vincent Price: bisexual gourmet

Peter Cushing: Warhammer and bird enthusiast

Christopher Lee: real-life spy who very likely assassinated one or more people

Old horror movie icons were a wild bunch.

As if kids in UK have not already missed huge chunks of their education. Closing schools gives the hate mob what they want surely, keeping them open tells the hate mob you can't intimidate us.

@pixelpusher220 @sellathechemist @zleap

WTF are you talking about? I'm about to banhammer.

Al Jazeera is a legit news source. I 100% stand by "Euro-Med Monitor says it has evidence that Israel has been firing banned white phosphorous in Gaza."

that is very different than saying white phosphorous was definitively used. And it is newsworth. And it is true. Here's their post. twitter.com/EuroMedHR/status/1

Netanyahu, who has already been facing corruption charges and attempting to subvert the judiciary because of it, is now under domestic pressure to do a big show of force to compensate for reports of his failures and ineptitude with regards to the Hamas attack.

The US and others have made a loud demonstration of essentially unconditional support for his government and its revenge campaign in Gaza.

Things are already very bad and could get a lot worse.
