I think the point is We are NOT seeing it,. Al jazeera are reporting from inside Gaza, I would suspect not the whole picture as it is horrific as it is,

We have civiilans being bombed on the basis the place next door was housing militants, this is NOT self defense, they are NOT human shields, this is genocide and mass murder. above all we are seeing war crimes and being told that we can't speak out or it is a hate crime against Jews.

I am sure any Jews watching Al Jazeera are equally as horrified as to what is going on. .

@zleap Deaths and injuries including the deaths of many children is nothing new for Gaza. Why had it taken so long for people to see this?

@PamCrossland@mastodon.world

On point 6, does it matter what OTHER countries do, ? If you want to take the higher ground you do the RIGHT thing, do everything to avoid civilian casualties and set the example to everyone else.

@therightarticle

I think people are seeing all the death and destruction and also seeing that most of the victims are CHILDREN.

@br00t4c

While the US government is in chaos, the real world out there is going crazy, esp in the middle east,

The result is that countries such as Russia,. Iran and China are stepping up and trying to take a leadership role to push for peace.

The USA will soon be as irrelevant as 5/1/4" floppy disks. Actually 5 1/4" floppy disks are more useful than.

@jasonkoebler

Don't worry about being ashamed, as with any service you need to be there for some time to really get a feel for the place.

What you can do is give people your well informed view on the fediverse and Mastodon, this is far better than trying to advocate something you are very new to.

Keep up the good work and hopefully your friends and acquaintances will join too.

I wrote about my first two months on Mastodon. I was a Mastodon hater because I thought it would be weird, complicated, or dead. It's been none of those things.

I'm ashamed I didn't join earlier and I'm ashamed I haven't been telling people to join it, because it's a version of the internet and social media I've long advocated for with my reporting: decentralized, portable, user controlled, not corporate:

Little #retrocomputing fact: The floppy disk (first picture) was superseded by the harddisk (second picture). One of the reasons for this was to make it look more like the ‘save’ icon so it’s more clear you needed to insert a disk before you click the save button.

@sue

I wonder if this could be down to the use of scraping and AI to harvest information deters people in other trades and professions from sharing material.

If I wrote an article on a legal topic in the UK then that topic surely would need to be based on UK laws and there for applicable to the UK Only. Would only be applicable in the UK, if an AI was to harvest that, would it be able to apply my work to the UK only for example.

Legal advice can change quickly esp when it comes to taxation after a budget.

We already have problems finding upto date information on some topics, try searching for a ubntu help topic and you sometimes end up with a mass of links to outdated information.

In terms of DIY, a lot of that are skills that can be applied anywhere, how to paint a wall, well get chose colour, get paint, get paint brush and other items, and paint the wall.

So if you write an article on that anyone in the world can follow it.

@guardian

All this negative talk of recession or in this case retail recession surely can cause one to happen as the talk of recession spooks people in to perhaps not spending their money.

@transactualuk We are all human, I really don't understand why this needs to happen, I am cis. To me we can talk about topics we know about e.g science, we can agree, disagree, expand and make arguments for / against a view point on here, and be civilised about it.

The hate mob won't win as they can't justify their view points or give good arguments as to why they say what they say.

You are fully welcome on Mastodon and the fediverse.

@honze_net

with the ufei secure boot thing, it does need a reboot, but this can be done at any time. So last night I updated then just shutdown as I was heading for bed, when I turn my computer back on it will just work as normal.

Mint asked me to set a secure boot password when I installed it, so if the system does want to update the kernel or low level boot stuff, it just asks for that password (twice). I don't have a problem with any of this.

I dualbooted with windows 11, and have not booted back in to windows since.

Windows: Let me show you a loading screen, while I replace some DLLs, that are hardly used. Oh, because of the DLLs, you will have to reboot now. (Takes 30 minutes.)

Linux: Please continue to work, while I replace the kernel, several services and software, that is running at this moment.

@BathysphereHat

Well this is happening on Facebook, what do you expect? For the most part on here, if you post something like that people respond and try and get you to expand or explain what you mean, viewpoints can also be challenged and people are fine with that.

Today I filed a formal complaint against #YouTube with the Irish Data Protection Commissioner for their illegal deployment of #adblock detection technologies.

Under Article 5(3) of 2002/58/EC YouTube are legally obligated to obtain consent before storing or accessing information already stored on an end user's terminal equipment unless it is strictly necessary for the provisions of the requested service.

In 2016 the EU Commission confirmed in writing that adblock detection requires consent.

Aljazeera: Isreal bombards south gaza despite telling people to move south for safety.

This HAS to stop
