Physicist and astronaut Ronald McNair was born #OTD in 1950. He spent about 8 days in space aboard Challenger in 1984 during STS-41-B. McNair was one of the seven crew members who lost their lives in the 1986 Challenger disaster.

Unconditional Basic Income (UBI) addresses market inefficiencies by ensuring everyone has at least a minimum amount of voice. This better reflects the true demand for goods and services, aligning production closer to actual demand, fostering a more accurate and efficient market response.

To dive more into this particular argument for #BasicIncome, read this:

Or lets just discuss related topics here on Mastodon,

We can mention Hamas, Gaza, Jews, Israelis Palestinians without fear of being censored by algorithms

Hamas does not represent the Palestinian people.

So much for the Intelligence in AI eh.

"Pro-Palestinian creators use secret spellings, code words to evade social media algorithms"

"From ‘terrier’ to ‘P*les+in1ans,’ creators are changing up their language with ‘algospeak’ to evade Big Tech’s content rules"

@zleap Whew! That's a relief. 😁

It's a mash-up of Freddie Mercury and Freddy Krueger 😊

@zleap @ProPublica Of course it does. Settler colonialist countries will keep on denying all rights to what remains of the people they dispossessed. See also last week in Australia, where a referendum refused a voice to the indigenous Australians.

@LALegault @SteveThompson
It is astounding that somebody, i.e. Steve Thompson, who claims to teach 'Critical Thinking', cannot differentiate between criticism of a government and a plea for humanitarianism.
By Steve Thompson's token I have to presume that he is in favour for the extermination of all Palestinian people.
I recommend he listen to the Interview of the Jewish political scientist: "Norman Finkelstein on Israel's BRUTAL Assault on Gaza"

@CultureDesk

Now there is an idea, countries such as Iran, Lebanon who support an independent Palestinian state could club together and help purchase the land that was taken from them by Israel. No need for more bloodshed.

The face of farming is changing in Nebraska as three tribes — the Winnebago, Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska, and Ponca Tribe of Nebraska — have purchased over 3,000 acres of farmland that was once theirs. Here’s more on the tribes’ attempt to reverse history and why these buybacks aren’t cheap or easy. flip.it/awE4_k

The only reason I go to Twitter at this point is to see posts from 9 to 5 toys. Please bring that account to here along with @9to5Mac because I could completely avoid the hell hole if you did that.

BREAKING: (Bloomberg) — US and European govts have been putting pressure on #Israel to DELAY its ground invasion of Gaza to buy time for secret talks underway via Qatar to win the release of hostages held by #Hamas

Pfizer says it will price Covid treatment Paxlovid at nearly $1,400 for a five-day course, which researchers estimate only costs Pfizer $13 to produce.

That's a 10,000%+ markup. Shameful.

@vosje62 @BrownSquirrel

I am in the UK and see what ( well from what is posted here) is happening makes the US look rather distracted

I am not sure how putin et al see the current situation but situations like this distracts the US even a small amount others will take advantage.

@guardian

I feel the same way,., Oddly people have let slip the plan, bit by bit, but that may be enough to give Hamas the edge.

I am suire there are more than enough citizens in Palestine who would be happy to see members of the IDF suffer for what they have done.

Without medical infrastructure if the IDFt do get injured and cut off, if Palestinian doctors wanted to treat them (which they would under the hypocratric oath) they can't

Well they may be able to amputate limbs without anathetic or proper hand sanitation because there ISNT' ANY.

I think this is one of the reasons under the rules of war you DON'T bomb hospitals for a start.

@vosje62 @BrownSquirrel

I am not seeing much about this on the BBC news, so Mastodon is keeping me updated on what is going on in the US Government, while all hell is about to break loose in the Middle east

When they get their act together it will be too late as China will have proven that western democracy is a total fail.

@axios

Can we vote in one of the Muppets as speaker, can't be any worse

Miss Piggy for speaker, so that any one who steps out of line, gets put in their place.

Or Cookie Monster, just pay in cookies.

@aljazeera

What worries me is the rules of engagement seem to be OFF so they will probably shoot at anything that moves. They seem to be doing that anyway/
