A #Neolithic arrowhead made of rock crystal, found in the pile dwelling settlement in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, dating around 3500 BC. The raw material was not available in the region, it came from the Alps.

These riots are apparnetly linked or have elements that are linked to far right, the far right are known for their anti immigration stance, so there may be a link, within their motivation, the far right don't need that much of an exucse to flare up anti immigration views.

So he May have a point. What has happened in Holland needs to serve as a warning to other countries though, something is going wrong, social media is at the very centre of it, hatred, racism and other discriminationatory conent is allowed to thrive.

Social media companies are NOT going to do anything until either fines, sanctions or prison terms are handed to the executive level down to the janators (who, granted janators have nothing to do with the content moderation) , but won't appreciate being thrown in to the same boat as their executives, punished while their billionaire employers get off freely with a smirk on their faces.

Social media is a great tool, it can bring those entering this country in touch with help and support, but also be used as a tool to exploit people (trafficking) and empower people whos views are very anti immigration.

Countries NEED immgration to fill highly skilled jobs for one example. If these rioters were in those highly skilled jobs they would probably not be rioting as they would be part of very diverse communities of people (like we are here on Mastodon).

“Then the spaceman took over the bird site so we all started tooting at the elephant place.”

“Oh…ok grandpa. Let’s get you back to bed.”

Anyone in the UK collect or have an interest in old hand operated sewing machines? I've had this in my shed for years and it needs to go to a new home.

Being from the UK, I am not sure on all the rules around children and or guns.

However I am sure I have seen reports etc that suggest the registered gun owner is responsible and should keep both gun and ammunition securely.

In the same way we are told to keep medication securely locked away, tubs of dishwasher or washing machine tabs, powder or fluid should be kept out of reach of children in child proof tubs (which they are supplied in). All of which is common sense, so why are there so many injuries due to firearms, if these simple steps\ are being followed?

So if a real crime takes place out side of the protest areas, will the police respond?

Victims of crime want a response not excuses when they call, it is usually a call for help.

Given the skills shortages we need an immigration system that is fit for purpose. We need to be able to bring people in with the skills that we need.

At the same time, we should be ensuring that the working conditions are so good people are not going to take our training and simply leave the country, like many doctors are doing for example.

The UK immigration needs to be flexible and dynamic to adapt to new technology especially given how quickly it changes.

Education needs to be such that people look to the UK to attract that talent, so we are also competitive.

I did read that care workers brought in from over seas are in some cases paid LESS than their UK counterparts, so a harsh clampdown on bad employers is also needed.

How can we stop new computer users being forced to sign up to a Microsoft windows account when setting up windows on a new computer.

There seems little options, you sign in with an existing MS id, or create a new one.

Linux mint has a utility for online accounts where you have a good choice of options.

There has to be a breach of monopoly law with the way MS are doing what they are doing.
