There seems to be an issue with Mastodon.social but don't draw any conclusions yet..

Remember, the Fediverse is mainly hosted by people like you and me. We are not big tech companies with millions or billions of dollars to keep up the infrastructe, stuff might break every once in a while and theirfor we simple ask a little patience ❤️

Give Eugen some time to fix the issues, I am sure this is his number 1 prio.

The FSF is seeking a motivated and organized individual to be our full-time outreach and communications coordinator: u.fsf.org/3fx

@natecull Not sure, but as this is fedi feel free to start the conversation.

@Aman9das

The next libreplanet is living liberation this may be a good topic of discussion

if you e-mail campaigns@fsf.org they are still looking for talks at Libreplanet 2022 could be a good way to reach out to the community.

There is no computer text book in my country, for children aged 6 to 14, geared towards free software.

I hope that we can write one. I need help: github.com/Aman9das/Our_Free_S

This is where we can get help:
1) If there already is one elsewhere in the world, we need a link to it, haha
2) we need to create the blueprint and syllabus structure
3) we need the initiative to reach a more people (and hopefully writers)

@watson They make money from taxes on these foods, banning them would not make financial sense,

esp in a country with private health care, in the UK the taxpayer funds the NHS (Healthcare)

Obesity kills 2.8 million people a year.

Heart disease kills 17.9 million a year.

Diabetes kills 1.5 million people a year.

If the government actually cared about your health, they would have banned fast food, processed sugars, & refined oils a long time ago.

But they didn’t. twitter.com/TheJordanRachel/st

@Phil I think self defense classes would be good here, you can learn how to disarm people without causing much damage to them, other than to their pride .

It can be over in seconds, and sends a message.

Problem with the fight fight thing is here in the UK many kids seem to carry a knife your child could come off worse.

Still needs to be reported, and if the School head fails to give a satisfactory response go to the education authority and make a complaint.

This is a big issue in the UK so much so this website was set up

everyonesinvited.uk/

so victims can record their experiences.

@zleap NO. Fight Fight Fight even if it means you get injured more. Bodily injury generally heals faster then injury to one's heart and soul. And the idea that not fighting back means you escape trauma is ludicrous. And in my daughter's case she was grabbed from behind and wasn't really given a chance to say much of anything.

@Phil

Teachers are meant to be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, in many caase their hands seem to be rather tied. ,

I kinda agree with don't fight back esp if the other person is bigger.

However a good kick in the right place will cause any rapist / sex pest to think twice. Not that I am advocating violence.

Ideas

1. Say NO in a loud, clear assertive voice

Write down what has happened ASAP and report in writing keep copies of everything, dated etc.

That should be enough, at least the school know what has happened

The next time you can use physical means to make your point. And say you have said NO

People need to learn NO means NO sadly this is not taught by many parents. Children and kick / scream, they get what they want to keep em quiet. Parents find it easier.

Of course at one time teachers used to hit / cane people so the same rules that stop them caning you, are the same rules that stop them caning the person who tries to touch you in an inappropriate way.

Back then parents would give you a smack after saying NO to emphasise the fact they said NO

I am not sure what the solution is really. We can't keep blaming the internet, kids get on to these websites but it is parents should should be monitoring use etc and setting down rules.

@pamby1 @Phil Yet another reason to get safeguarding / mental health etc on here, people to share this work with.

@pamby1 @Phil Yes we need to all stand together to fight abuse, it is the only way it will be stopped.
