@freemo @khaosgrille

The people making these rules could probably afford to buy a 5 year supply easily.

@freemo @khaosgrille

Yes good point, if you breath out the virus, then touch the mask then your hands are infected,

most shops have hand sanitizer as you walk in, i carry some with me.

@freemo @khaosgrille

Well yeah

But the rules / tech on test and trace get lost in the school system, that system seems to assume everyone has a smart phone or may be assumes people can afford one or even that they assume we want a tracking device in our pockets,

@freemo @khaosgrille

Indeed, the ones I wear are just basic masks, so slip down, so i need to touch them to reset to the right place.

@khaosgrille @freemo

If I had a smart phone and worked in a school then having the UK test and trace app would be worthless

Staff are not allowed to have phones in the classroom, none of the kids have one, so as a supply teaching assistant, if all the kids were infacted my smart phone would be stored in a school office safe, well away from proximity to other phones, so would not ping me for being in close contact.

@freemo @khaosgrille Ah ok thanks, that clears a few things up.

I still think it is worth wearing a mask most of the time anyway, esp in crowded places such as shops etc.

@newsbot Given starbucks are doing the same perhaps they should think about using fedi as a way to communicate with members / each other.

@echo_pbreyer

Sharing data works well as long as those sharing the data can be trusted to do so in the right way.

Given the recent issues with the UK police, esp the London Met police this trust is seriously eroded.

@khaosgrille

@freemo from what I understand

Just because you are vaccinated does not mean you can't host the virus and pass it on to others.

Vaccination simply helps the body build the immune system by being presented with an inert version of the virus, as far as I understand the body can then produce antibodies that recognise the spike proteins.

The body can then recognise the virus and, hopefully produce the correct response.

@vital876@mastodon.social @DavidBlue

This could seriously erode trust in free and open source software and the people behind it.

@zem @pamby1 @fabsh

BBC news interview suggested that we have 5 million people unvaccinated in the UK.

@pamby1 @zem @fabsh

Some education systems are not very good it seems at encouraging debate you can sort of tell that by the fact people want to cancel historical figures due to for example a link to slavery, rather than looking at the whole picture of that person.

Uk has banned schools from promoting anti capitalist material, so we can't even have a debate or discuss why say the Fedi or free / open source software is a better model.

@pamby1 @zem @fabsh

I agree, as some of the vaccine ingredients could cause allergic reactions for example, in which case you should be able to seek an alternative vaccine or knowing you can't be, find a way to take steps to protect your self and others close to you.

Goverment need to protect everyone esp those who are vulnerable

I am sure a lot of deaths are due to other health conditions (not in all cases)

I think off topic pushing for better open science, better representation in science is essential going forward.

Science is about asking questions, discussing, questioning and then seeking better answers surely.

@aito@fosstodon.org If people can sign up to fedi to ask for help / support then I am sure we as a community can offer support without the usual stuff you get on the forums where you can end up being told to RTFM or other unfriendly attitudes.

First experiences of support can make or break your desire to keep using any software.

Finding the right docs is harder sometimes as you end up finding out of date documentation.

@Killab33z_OG @libreoffice

We need to respond to mainstream social media streams and suggest libreoffice, which now has documentation for the latest version 7.2

@libreoffice
Draw guide pending

documentation.libreoffice.org/

@aito@fosstodon.org How do we convince people there is a better way, we need to move people to Linux but also provide tech support to people to help the transition over to free software.

If the main point of Web3 is decentralization, then is Mastodon considered a Web3? 😀
