@strypey

Sometimes it is worth applying anyway as for the right person they may be able to make exceptions, remote working is becoming more common and do-able.

@rosemaxx7@freeatlantis.com Would be good to see more of her work, maybe share here or on Pixcelfed

is it worth this being brought up on the forum, partly as this is a matter of choice for end users but also something that admins can make clear as to the options the end users have, and the pros vs cons of this.

@info_activism I have har4d that this is quite common, we ned better employment screening to weed out those who can't do jo

Is this prevalent in other sectors?

@ScienceDaily@newsbots.eu I will take a look at this.

@newt They have an vaccine for paedophiles in countries where paedophiles are executed by firing squad, it is still a shot, just with a bullet.

Conny Duck is probably best known on the Fediverse as lead developer of the excellent Mastodon app @Tusky, but did you know he's also a talented artist?

You can follow his art account at:

@zleap

I don't know, but I do appreciate that many fediverse projects emphasize real benefits for users : self-moderation, no ads, no constant surveillance, etc. Mastodon's marketing in particular IMO does a good job with this.

I think it's easy to get lost in the "how" (open source licenses, decentralized architectures, etc.), but at least to get people interested, it's important to emphasize the "what" -- how is this approach different/better for me as a user.

The Good News:

Android Studio (2021 version) doesn't contain Log4J 2.x

The Bad News

Android Studio (2021 version) contains Log4J 1.2, which reached end of life in 2015 and has security vulnerabilities which won't be patched

@eloquence We need something like what they are doing with pinephone,. But with this just make the dev boards available to people cheap, so we can, as a community experiment with the kit.

Read a bit about the MiSTer FPGA project yesterday - pretty amazing stuff. As I understand it, they're basically re-creating much of 20th century hardware using a programmable FPGA board. This isn't emulation - it's high fidelity re-creations of everything from 1970s arcade boards to the PlayStation 1 (in development).

Emulation is usually good enough for me, but I might get my hands on one eventually...

@eloquence The question is how do we get this across to the general population ?

The web isn't simply getting worse. It's serving capitalist optimization functions. Every trend towards an objectively worse user experience (more paywalls, more scams, more surveillance, more spammy notifications, etc) is the direct result of someone trying to extract more money from you or from someone else. It will inevitably continue.

The upside is that the contrast with alternatives that aren't driven by that optimization function is increasingly stark and obvious.

Well yeaj, I don't agree with piracy. I do feel there should be fair usage, e.g buy a cd, rip cd and listen to on a music mp3 / ogg player for example.

I also think that the people who make the music should get a far far better deal.

@CKsTechnologyNews

That is from that anti piracy film at the start of movies,

The flaw is that their stealing analogy does not work for movies or media as you are not taking a physical object. which they are doing in the film.

When you copy a movie you are making a copy original is still in the same place.

So not theft in the same way,.

There is nothing physical about the 0's and 1's unless you look at an atomic / subatomic level and consider electrons.

Management won't admit to anything esp making errors. It is someone else's fault.
