This seems to be happening in the UK in reaction to Migrants crossing the channel
Rather than treating them as illegal migrants, we need to deter channel crossings as it is dangerous for starters.
The home office are proving to be incompetent to say the least, these people (or some are) seeking safety they deserve much better.
If they are coming here to work, fine, but we need to know WHO they are, where they are working / Living so they can be afforded the same rights as other workers, proper wages, conditions and not subjected to slavery / exploitation surely.

Imagine, you have to run a successful party for nine children but instead the whole school turns up, all 400 of them.
But you can’t turn them away, you have to feed them well and be cheerful, that would be very hard eh?

That is what the #mastodon technical administrators are doing now.
They are playing catch up while trying to keep the services live and we should all be patient, it’s incredibly complex to run these systems and keep them up 24/7.

I think a lot of parents want something that is safe for their children to use, where those in charge take some responsibility and put safety before profits.

Lot of arguments against Mastodon can be boiled down to : "But I really want a big centralized power that tells me the centralized truth".
Decentralization is hard because there’s not one single objective truth anymore. There’s no more one single way of doing it. There’s not a "good" answer to your question. There’s no official scale of worthiness.
You need to make mistakes, to be frustrated, to discover unwanted things.
You need to (re)learn to be a human.
It’s hard and political.
