Hey cis friends! I want to help you understand some stuff about the #trans experience that can be confusing (including to myself, before I figured out I was trans). FYI, this is intended as a 101 course, skipping a lot of nuance and detail.
Let's begin with terminology. "Trans man" means a man, frequently someone who was born with their body in the wrong configuration. Likewise, a "trans woman" is a woman. Don't overthink these. The term says who they really are, not who they were.

My blog https://personaljournal.ca/paulsutton/ is powered by @writeas_org
(well the writeAs software)
This is really nice, supports markdown and personaljournal.ca (host my blog) also support MathJax, which allows LaTeX type setting along side the normal markdown.
You can also customise page colour etc with css.

I am studying, or undertaking CPD so need to read quite a lot with that, even if the course text is narrated, a module can be up to 1/2 hour long, then short tests at the end.
And yes, I try and make notes, currently undertaking some Anti bullying courses, so a mix of notes, diagrams to link concepts together and copy / pasting larger blocks of text and then printing, sticking in to note book , saves writing but also keeps notes all together.
As I work in a school having the view TL:DR on statutory documents is not really an option, we HAVE to read it and be familiar with documents such as Keeping Children Safe In Education (KCSIE)
But yes, reading to learn requires effort but a lot of tasks require effort.
Taking breaks is also important when reading long texts. .
re: complaining about dating sites
@cwebber Spritely dating app when? ;-)
Seriously, none of the existing apps seem acceptable/usable. If I were single/looking, I'd need to make my own or trick someone else into making something better. I met my partner on Okcupid, but it seems they were bought out and destroyed / actively sabotaged, they're everything they once railed against.
Dating is too important for corps like Match Group to control it, we need anticapitalist options.
re: complaining about dating sites
At one time people went out and socialised and met people that way or perhaps were introduced through family events for example.
I am sure it was a lot simpler, is there a reason why Mastodon can't instigate one sort of introductions, after all we share our interests in hashtags and find people with a common set of interests / values.
Celebrate with us: We have published our first professional video ever. 🤩🥳 Our goal is to educate people who are still using the Google ecosystem to get off the platform and start looking for alternatives. Help us with this mission by liking and sharing our video. Together we will change the web for the better! ♥️

We are struggling to handel the resource use on this instance and would like to get the user base down to 800 people to keep a good sense of community.
We focus on radical grassroot direct action here, so if this is not your subject it's a good time to move accounts to a different instance, the are over 3000 to choice from https://instances.social/list#lang=&allowed=&prohibited=&min-users=&max-users=
At some point we have to start culling off subject accounts, so please MOVE
We host a second instance that has room https://campaign.openworlds.info
Hopefully better open science access will mean the general population can read the 'actual' science not the dumbed down interpretation found in the mainstream media.
Just need a balance, those doing the science still need to be paid properly for their work.
The UK government are now apparently going to apply road tax to electric vehicles. Following science generally means they lose revenue, so by following the science, they encourage use of electric cars, this reduces tax income.
To follow science further would have the same effect, so rather than seeing alternatives as a way to generate income for the country, which means more work for politicians they choose to ignore or pay lip servce to the science, or it seems that way. They do enough to be seen to be doing something.
[Open call🔊] We seek researchers, journalists & digital rights groups to tell stories about companies influencing election processes worldwide.

👀📚@PLOSBiology #PLOSBiology This paper shares some fascinating insights; "data show that the nasal epithelium of children supports lower infection & replication of ancestral SARS-CoV-2, although this may be changing as the virus evolves." https://twitter.com/AusVirologySoc/status/1592065601358663686
Recently, we experimented with a new social media account on #Mastodon. Now we've taken a few steps further. We run our own server open to all.
It's great to be on the #Fediverse with vivaldi.social

It helps the rich, I am on there, but not rich, I can do a course and post what I have achieved to LinkedIn and no one responds. If someone posts a certificate I at least give them the thumbs up
People don't even interact on there, try and connect with employers you may as well be talking to ghosts. Networking is about communication.
Can we use Mastodon to help people, we already have people posting some jobs here, or I have seen PostDoc opportunities.
Agreed, we really do need a decentralised alternative, even if we can some how use Mastodon for this, (it could be a case of being able to share our CV / Resume) and connect with people who are looking for staff / jobs.
Linked in is full of people promoting them selves, but you need to pay LinkedIn to get services that are designed to be more helpful.
Looks like there's a lot of people joining the fediverse.
#Introduction Hi, I'm Ferass. I love programming and I'm currently working on POSIX core utilities for UNIX-like systems. I love UNIX-like systems and libre and simple software. As such, I mostly use simple and minimal software. I currently use Artix on my laptop and @postmarketOS on my phone. I have a website at https://vitali64.duckdns.org (Tor users: There's an onion version of this website).
Thanks for stopping by!
