The #GoBike Strathclyde cycle campaign has had a hiccup and ended up without a committee. There should be an EGM in March to sort this out. I for one will be stepping up.
If you'd be prepared to help and you're not already on the mailing list, drop us a line at campaigns@gobike.org so we can send you the meeting date.
Maybe it is time to go back to the Apathide era with South Africa, their own choices on this should lead to international isolation. Sorry to safeguard peace, it has to be done.
I remeber watching a program or article about US cities in extreme cold, it may have been detrioit where buildings are linked together. Maybe this could be the answer for extreame heat, as you would not go outside as much.
Cities need more shade, more water fountains for example but I think it is doable to create a system where you can get around, solar panels on buildings could power air con for example or at least power fans to get air moving around more.
Yeah, this is the issue Shops here are closing as they can't afford to stay open due to rising costs of energy to keep places open.
I think we should proceed with caution, but building stronger ties with EU/China weakens the ties between China and Russia, this isolates russia further. Plus if we start to open up, perhaps China will do too.
I can't see China trying to invade Taiwan, given they can't afford to lose their trade links with the west alone.
This is the problem, CCTV is great for catching people so they can be prosecuted for shoplifting or similar but the technology is open to abuse, this means it gets a bad reputation and at times it is really needed.
On a positive note, home cctv built in to doorbells are really good for catching meteors or other interesting things like wildlife etc, whuch is really cool.
I was walking down on of the nature trails when my friend told me to look up and about 5-6 ft above me was this great horned owlet! Knowing that the mom could be nearby I slowly headed back up the trail.
We found a spot at a safe distance to photograph and observe the owlet.
next post will be of it sleeping.

What is to stop teachers simply moving to another state where they can do their job without fear of being put in prison.
@realTuckFrumper It seems odd that Meghan Markle and Harry are so quiet while this is happening, esp when it comes to removing books about same sax relationships from libraries. I thought they were all for speaking in favour of same sex relations and fignting against racism, homophobia and transphobia etc.
Or are they just selective on that issue?

Or perhaps a better plan, don't use websites support your local highstreet instead. Providing that the installed CCTV is for catching criminals and not for tracking customers and what they buy. Free wifi should be for internet not for tracking customers either. We are people not products.
Of course if the CCTV highlights problems with shop layout then fine, you can use that data to re-arrange the shop so higher volume items are in a certain place.

Oddly with this topic, soccer and football both use the imperial system. So despite the UK using Kilos, meters, cm, mm (also common in science anyway) we stil have a 25 yard box in soccer. I am involved in amercan football so use yards anyway.
We still use Miles for distance
I think both can co-exist, you just use which ever is most appropriate and make sure everyone is on the same page, esp in science. Glassware in chemistry is measured in metric anyway and I would assume this is the same in the US too.

Facebook don't care about their users, welfare or users let along care about the welfare of employees, so long as they can make huge amounts of money they will do what it takes.
Let's call a spade a spade: moderation on Big Social is unsustainable.
Right now, they're trying to outsource moderation to developing companies.
Which is really just exporting trauma to some of those economically deprived people on the planet.
And in places like Kenya and the Philippines, few people want to work as a Facebook content moderation.
Again, who wants to be traumatized for life while working for $2/hour?
