I think it very much depends on interest, I seem to be following a good few people in to science, esp astronomy, most have PhDs or are undertaking research.
For the most part a follow is reciprocated, but I am not too bothered about number of followers, I am more interested in quality, variety of content and interaction.
Today in 1822, William McDougal was born. A close friend of Abraham Lincoln, he was with him when he gave the Gettysburg Address.
He then became a Father of Confederation & the Lt. Governor of Rupert's Land from 1869-1870.
He also served in Parliament from 1867-1872 & 1878-1882.

NEW: A group of clergy in Missouri have filed a lawsuit challenging the state’s abortion ban, arguing it violates the Missouri constitution by imposing one set of religious beliefs (regarding abortion) on all citizens.
The Rev. Traci Blackmon: “Our elected officials have violated their oath to uphold that constitution by weaponizing religious beliefs to deny abortion access.”
I can try and boost when this is ready and can give it a mention on my blog too.
is this referring to Nick Fuentes or some one else, asking as I am making a blog post to say why I am glad I left twitter.
@zleap @juddlegum here’s a good article discussing which other states and how they’re going about it. Texas and Pennsylvania are two I’ve heard the most rumbling about so far https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2023/01/22/students-want-new-books-thanks-restrictions-librarians-cant-buy-them/
Thanks
No problem :)
There is this https://ethercalc.net/ I am not too sure about if it works on mobile.
Nice overview of the various ways to determine the neutrino's mass.
"“If you want to learn more about neutrinos, you need to be creative, to find an original and clever method that allows you to really learn something about them,” she [Loredana Gastaldo] says. “The neutrinos don’t give anything up as a present, so you need to sweat a lot to gain a little bit more understanding.”"

Determining exact mem usage of an app in Linux is nontrivial, esp. for multithreaded/multiprocess apps.
Here's a bash oneliner to do it:
for pid in $(pidof app); do cat /proc/$pid/smaps; done | awk '/Private_Dirty:/ {x = x + $2} END {print("Used memory: " int(x / 1024) " MB")}'
(replace "app" in "pidof app" with the actual app name, like "vim" or "code" or "chrome")
This sums up all the allocated and written to ("dirty") memory of the app, ignoring code and shared libs it loads.
I find it amazing that so many companies, schools and people who work with children and young people still use it. At teh same time they say they are committed to safeguarding. Yeah right, it looks very bad on them, as to me being on twitter makes you complicit, even if you don't interact with the bigots.
Musk and his minions have reinstated the account of one of the nation's most prominent bigots. This is not remotely surprising to anyone who's paying the slightest attention.
I remain surprised, and disappointed, that so many people in the journalism world still choose to use that platform -- knowing that they are supporting people who want to see the U.S. become a right-wing dictatorship.
Journalism has options, but most journalists ignore them.
A true open standard (see https://openstandards.nz/definition) allows for *permissionless innovation*. Literally anyone can both study the open standard in its entirety, and implement it without fear of patent extortion or the need to pay up front or have profit drained by royalties.
