Ooh, THIS is clever. I'm in for anything that both saves energy and keeps public swimming pools open.

“We built a small data centre in Exmouth leisure centre. Most normal data centres waste the heat that the computers generate. We capture ours and we give it for free to the swimming pool to heat the pool,” https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/mar/14/innovative-heat-tech-save-england-swimming-pools-from-closure #Swimming #heat #climate #Sport

The first presentation of our workshop on #reproducibility in #CancerBiology was by Tim Errington from the Center for Open Science.
Here's the link to the video (skipping the initial 12 min and going straight to Tim's presentation)

Tim's presentation was centred on the COS "Cancer Biology Reproducibility project" he lead.

and we are live!! you can back the MNT Pocket Reform (open hardware 7" mini laptop) campaign now: https://www.crowdsupply.com/mnt/pocket-reform

and we are very thankful for spreading the word!

Feels like we've entered a worrying new phase where even the most outlandish statements are receiving broad coverage:

- Hitchens, L. Fox, & other such luminaries, currently arguing that *the Nazis* were 'leftists'
- Calvin Robinson asking if 'women's rights have gone too far'
- Bridgen spouting antivaxx conspiracies in the HoC
- Forbes saying LGBTQ+ should have a 'choice' to undergo conversion therapy

Feel like I don't recognise the UK anymore.

Party of small government?
Freedom?
Belief in the constitution?

What does a republican actually stand for?
I’ll wait…

Aside from the stunning natural beauty, though, the thing that makes this town worthwhile is the people I am surrounded by.

Many of them are also here on the fediverse, but I won't be the one to dox them.

We are working together to build a better future. We're doing it somwhere with clear skies and lots of trees.
