Yes, I suffer mild hayfever, during the pandemic we could go out for walks. So had to wear a mask, just in side local park is a big tree with lots of pollen, the mask seemed to really help.

Unless someone has done this, it would certainly be worth research and a research paper on the topic.

I don't think people are realising the danger the Fediverse is in.

The only thing stopping corporations and VCs taking over this place is that the Fediverse is spread out on many different servers, which makes it very difficult to purchase.

If most of the Fediverse ends up on mastodon.social, which is now a strong possibility, there will be nothing to stop most of it being sold to Musk or Zuckerberg or whoever.

The bigger mastodon.social becomes, the more likely a buyout is to happen.

I overheard them at the bus stop.
"Which is best, supplying a regular or getting someone new hooked?"
"Hm. To satisfy the desperate, or create a lifelong addiction? I-"
I turned around. "Have you drug dealers no shame?"
"What? We're booksellers!"
"Oh. Um. Do you have any here?"

I think I may have just put the last touch on my dissertation’s bibliography.

I still need to obsessively go over it ten more times…but I think it’s done.

"The lab is locked," the student said, "so how..."
The professor looked at the camera feed.
"Ah. You know how subatomic particles can spontaneously come into existence?"
"Yes, but that is not-"
"It happens. Put a note up that we have another cat available for adoption."

All of us very often use Wikipedia to find out more or less accurate information about everything that interests us.💫
Therefore, we created a wiki department of our team, which works on creating wiki articles for Ukrainians. :catjam:
In the beginning, it was a passion of the founders of the NUAAR project, which grew into something much more. Now most of the team is engaged in active writing of Wikipedia articles.
In future posts you will find out more about our wiki team⭐ #mastodon #ukraine

Astronomers have directly imaged a supermassive black hole emitting a powerful jet for the first time. The image of the black hole in M87 could help better understand this powerful and violent phenomenon. W/@SPACEdotcom space.com/black-hole-jet-first

What is too far, the benchmark should the same as anything else. I did jury service a few years ago, you do NOT discuss any aspect of the case anyone END OFF. In addition you DO NOT look up anyone associated with the case, the jury is there to decide on evidence presented in court and NOTHING else.

I wasn't selected but the above was part of the induction before hand.

I am sure the US law is not much different to the UK law on this.

Agreed, instances on fedi will reflect the interests, needs of users, but the fediverse / activity pub part of it will help all instances / services communicate.

@shoq @cgerrish @davidslifka @elipariser Yeah, that’s the biggest problem I have with any of these overarching analyses of Mastodon/Fediverse — not what “we hoped for”? Who’s we?

I don’t think the people on this platform are united in one common goal— a lot of people have very different goals, and that’s a *good* thing because it will lead to more innovation

The Leidenfrost effect is the phenomenon whereby a liquid, in near contact with a mass significantly hotter than the liquid's boiling point, produces an insulating vapor layer which keeps the liquid from boiling rapidly.

A quick history lesson. From 1940-1980:
•Wealthiest paid 70-94% marginal tax
•0 of them went broke from taxation
•0 of them left USA
•All remained exceedingly wealthy
•Manufacturing boomed
•The middle class was 62% of US economy (It's now 40% post 'trickle down scamenomics)
•We had the strongest middle class growth in US History

Let's do that again. Stop protecting billionaires. Start taxing them.
