Spacetime: is it real and physical, or just a calculational tool?
Matter and energy tells spacetime how to curve, and curved spacetime tells matter and energy how to move.
But we can directly measure matter and energy. Can we say that about spacetime?

The good sites have a functional website where you don't need apps. That's how I can judge them. If you need an app, they usually suck. :D
Good point, either that, if people are going to use a throwaway e-mail address to sign up, and the decide to stay they need to remember to change the e-mail address to one they use.
I can understand why people use throwaway e-mail addresses to avoid spam and junk from people.
Fun fact with that is:
All those accounts that have used a one-time mail address will get deleted, because the notification mail about the pending account deletion is undeliverable.
It's stated quite clearly that you'll need a permanent valid mailaddress for exact that purpose in my ToS.

A death star,
The fact this is also star wars day has nothing to do with it clearly. Great timing though.
Our own star, will one day expand (if that is the right word) and eventually engulf the inner planets, ending life on Earth, BUT could at the same time give life to the outer planets.
In a first, astronomers spot a star swallowing a planet

🌟🌎 A "planet-eating" star has been caught in the act by astronomers
🌌This rare phenomenon happens when a star consumes its own planets, and it could help us better understand how stars evolve

I guess this is what you would really call a 'Death Star'.
Happy Star Wars Day
May the forth be with you.
This is interesting and worrying at the same time, we seem to be having a hard time as it is with convincing people when they should and should not be using anti biotics.
It shows how nature can adapt and quickly to a given situation, I wonder how much of this, is down to more than taing anti biotics, there was a time when kids would get dirty, usually through play and could build up natural immunity, now we are obsessed with killing every known bug out there so we are never exposed to much in the way of bacteria.
Antibiotic resistance has contributed to millions of deaths worldwide. But besides developing resistance, there’s another threat: some bacteria are developing “antibiotic tolerance,” where they stay dormant until the human stops taking the antibiotics, then rebound. A microbiologist explains:

Someone just happens to be in the4 right place at the right time to film all this.
Unless it was CCTV
How can researchers develop mutually-beneficial collaborations with communities?
Lucas Wright and William Frey are organizing a CAT Lab big tent conversation and storytelling session about extraction, reciprocity, and the practicalities of working with communities.
Here are the readings they queued up for us:

WebGPU, the new graphics API for JavaScript, shipped in a stable web browser (Chrome 113) about… an hour ago!
I have written a blog post about it, covering a brief (okay, not brief) history of graphics APIs to ~situate WebGPU in a context~, a brief general guide to writing WebGPU, and some specific resources for making WebGPU projects in TypeScript, Rust, and C++ (you can use it on desktop! it doesn't have to be in a browser).
I think WebGPU is really good.

This is brilliant, thank you.
