Nebraska. Republicans gather to celebrate banning healthcare for trans kids and simultaneously eliminating abortion access in the state

In Jesus’ name.

A Jesus who:

Hates science
Hates gay people
Hates trans people
Hates poor people
Puts gun rights above children
And needs your money

Think about the kind of person it takes to celebrate hurting others.

For many of us, this isn’t just the face of the GOP. This is the face of Christianity

@pre @jerry

Does NPC mean non player character?

I agree, something we can work to solve on the fediverse at least hopefully.

In the US, hospitals are confident enough to print ‘39.95’ on the bill for holding your newborn

They are so sure about their system they don't mind explicitly spelling out that they charge $40 for literally handing over the baby and waiting for a few minutes

Because they don't even consider that absurd anymore

I got news for you.. it’s ABSURD!

M101, the Pinwheel galaxy, is located 21 million light-years away.
The spiral galaxy is visible face-on in the night sky near the handle of the Big Dipper (Ursa Major).
M101 was discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1781.
M101 has a diameter of 170,000 light-years, about 50% larger than the Milky Way.
It contains around a trillion stars.
Five internal supernovae were recorded prior to SN 2023ixf.

This stunning view of M101, the Pinwheel Galaxy, is one of the largest images captured by the Hubble Space telescope. Assembled from 51 exposures taken during various studies over nearly ten years, this infrared and visible-light image measures 16,000 by 12,000 pixels. Ground-based images were used to fill in the portions of the galaxy that Hubble did not observe.
See nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2017/ for the full-res image.

Happy #Newstodon Friday, the day we celebrate the publications and journalists of the #Fediverse!

Today lets highlight @josephinelee's story of the fight to control the #Texas State Historical Society and why it matters to the future of #education ... texasobserver.org/those-who-do

@zleap @kim_harding These companies own the law: theguardian.com/commentisfree/

(It has only gotten worse since that article was written.)

Extralegal measures are needed. I won't spell them out...

One of my biggest concerns about switching over to Mastodon when I did, was losing the online Black community I developed on birb site, many of whom were very helpful to my continuing to thrive as I negotiated white supremacist spaces in my professional and personal life. I am very happy to find another such community here, and want to give a shout outs to SOME (wish I could tag everybody - the search function is pretty terrible here for some reason) of the people that keep me coming back to the Fediverse. Love you guys!

(Side note: the autofill "@" function for Mastodon really sucks - fully 85% of the time it autofills Neil Gaiman - so it took me a REALLY long time to populate this list. And I can't find the homie Jaden from Chicago)

@bonifartius

Yeah, Granted I sometimes delete and repost if there are a few serious typos in my post. But I know that breaks threading.

@kim_harding

Thanks for this, not sure what happened to my book mark.

@xoagray

America is a country, that is truly in the dark ages, 2023 you should be able to drive around the country on ONE driving license and not have to worry about nonsense such as this.
