You want SKYNET? This is how you get SKYNET:

The US Air Force tested an AI enabled drone that was tasked to destroy specific targets. A human operator had the power to override the drone—and so the drone decided that the human operator was an obstacle to its mission—and attacked the operator. When it was expressly forbidden to kill the operator, it destroyed the operators communications net, effectively freeing itself to carry out its original directives. @Emerson

Sounds like several episodes of star trek at least one in TOS (the M5 one) and I think dreadnaught which had cardassian missile with built in AI, that managed to trick Tores in to thinking she had re-programmed it, and convinced the AI they were no longer in the Alpha quadrant.

We either want order or chaos, we seem to be getting chaos, as everyone is allowed to bring their chaos to the table

We could start discussions about teaching here, I am not a teacher but running code club and am looking for more work as a teaching assistant, so learning about some of the teaching planning processes is really useful

Another reasons MPs (or in this case MSPs) are out of touch with reality.

I think we need to get all these groups on here, as a combined voice and passion will make us a force not to be messed with, esp if they can also be onboard with our ideas of freedom and openness, and reject big tech who are, after all empowering the far right.

Greg Sargent & Paul Waldman: In a deep red Florida county, a student-teacher revolt shames the right

"A raucous school board meeting in Hernando County, Fla., on Tuesday night captured what’s striking about this new phenomenon. The scene featured #teachers pointedly declaring that right-wing attacks are driving them to quit, even as parents and students forcefully stood up on their behalf, demanding a halt to the hysteria."

"Things like this are happening all over. As Sarah Jones of New York magazine reports, liberal parents in states as far-flung as New York, North Carolina and Montana are organizing local groups, pressuring school boards and running for office to challenge the right’s education takeover."

@gwynnion

We perhaps need to get behind platforms such as pinephone and ramp up support for that and get it mature enough then get behind other platforms one by one and bring all of them up to the same level over time.

Same here, I tried to fill out a form to submit content for a local newsletter, need to login to google to use google forms.

I gave up and just e-mailed them, sadly schools are indoctrinating kids in to using google or other big tech.

But they don't know any better, hence why I say we need to target those who offer basic skills so they offer alternatives so there is proper choice.

sadly facebook users are in total denial about what they are doing, same goes for users in denial about google et al too

@strypey

from what I understand

Debian 11 and older had 2 isos
1 non-free (which had non free firmware / software support)
2. free (which had the non-free repository not included

The former was actually harder to find, but possible.

What they are doing with Debian 12 is just having a single ISO, so the non-free stuff is available.
I would as @debian for clarity.

The idea of having 1 ISO is to avoid all the confusion caused.

@futurebird

Yes, I try and write up instructions on my website, that assume that my solution is for my individual problem or task I wanted to complete. The steps I am taking, need to be modified for individual needs depending on what you want to do.

Sometimes I've heard people say "oh that's just the kind of answer I was looking for!"

This could be innocent enough-- but I always think "but what if the most correct answer wasn't what you were looking for?" In particular what if the most correct answer is "No one really knows there isn't enough information." or "In fact, the thing you thought was true probably isn't"

I feel like we are hurtling towards a world where such answers will be unheard of things of the past. That scares me.
