self-care does something to you. it's not immediately noticeable but a shower and a change of clothes bumps your mood up a bit, for example.

a feeling of contentment and happiness came over me like a hug out of nowhere.

i'm not entirely sure i've experienced it before to be honest. my brain is switching on new systems again.

it's been doing that during this dead period of my life that has lasted since 2020. very gradually allowing me to function a bit more like a normal person.

also, there's more clarity about what my desires and motivations are. the silence is frustrating and boring but it also gives space for contemplation and self-development that was missing before.

there's zero pressure for me to do things and no one truly cares for me, so if anything is to happen, it's because i alone made a decision. and if someone cares for me, that person is me.

so in a way, i have space to learn how to take care of myself which i didn't have before.

Main difference between the 90s and 2020s is social media.

Scientists in the 1990s: We split the atom! We landed people on the moon! We cloned a sheep! We discovered superconductivity! We're digitizing all of the world's knowledge for global, near-instantaneous access!

Scientists in the 2020s: No, vaccines don't include 5G chips and make you sterile. No, the Earth is not flat. No, jet contrails are not mind-control sprays. Yes, climate change is real.

@zleap I guess it all revolves around whether the majority want the changes they are told they need by media, corporations and politicians or whether they are able to identify the real changes that are needed to improve the lives of the many. The two are very different! It’s been the former for far too long and time is running out particularly on climate, inequality and poverty

Education is the kjey, give people the facts, access to the research, the tools to find proper / science backed information, that is pretty much all we can do.

If kids know better let em carry on, when this happens they probably only have themselves to blame.

It will be interesting to get a perspective as to what is going on there during the elections in 2024.

Anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is expected to announce that he will drop his Democratic bid for president and run as an independent or third-party candidate, adding a new wrinkle to the 2024 race. apnews.com/article/rfk-jr-pres

@coleens_

Add to that mis information on some TV channels, and especially social media which stokes up hatred and prepares people for war based on false narratives. Governments lack any inclination to do anything about it.

@AJEnglish

I can't see any of the sides in this moving, we have hamas on one side, the palistinians seem to be stuck in the middle while on the other side there is various parties in Isreal all claiming something.

The only people that suffer are generally the populations of civilians just wanting to get on with their lives, go to work, school, shops etc.

@decembr14

Labour need to spend less time talking about what the Tories have done or may do as a government. Focus on deveoping their own solid policies, make it clear they will develop over time (which they will anyway) and be clear on All issues, make bold decisions and be clear with the public on the short / medium and long term goals to fix problems.

Get out and talk to people about concerns, ideas etc, listen to views and act accordingly, remember the UK is veryt diverse, what works in Devon / Cornwall, won't work in London, Birmingham, Manchester, or the North west / east of the country.

“Dear Keir Starmer: here’s what you should know about Sunak’s attack on climate policy – he lied and lied

He says measures are unaffordable: official figures say otherwise. He says costs will fall on the poor, but that’s a choice made by his government”
