Here we go again, another day another shooting, thoughts are of course with the victims but the American people really DO need to wake up and get a grip on all this surely.

Heading up to the final Torbay Trojans training session before our first game of the 2023 season. Playing against Somerset Wyverns.
I took this photo last week of a few players.
I also understand—and empathize—that people often have no choice and must use Twitter.
If the choice is between making rent and eviction, I get it.
But that’s not everyone. If you’re privileged enough to leave Twitter, it’s your duty to log off forever.
That’s how you can thwart the spread of Fascism.
I’ve written an open letter asking organisations that engage online with the blind community to come to Mastodon in light of the significant #accessibility regressions at Twitter.
If you agree, please sign it and share it as widely as you can. This is one occasion where if we can show how many of us care about this issue, it will make it clear that it’s worth companies putting in the effort to be here.
I would also be very grateful for the support of our sighted friends.
Thank you.

Flaws in systems don't get fixed by people who think they're great and should just be bigger.
They get fixed by people who listen to those who've noticed the flaws.
Ever since November, I’ve told everyone who would listen that continuing to use Twitter helps Fascism.
Certain people said that statement was “extremist and alienating”.
But now it turns out that Twitter is deliberately amplifying Russian propaganda. And Russia is, in fact, a Fascist regime.
It’s time you all realize the stakes of your social media use.

Incredibly, Twitter has now made it impossible for public safety bulletins to be posted automatically by weather services, tsunami warnings, the MTA etc. This is consistent with Musk’s particular lack of interest in public service. But it also highlights the general problem of building networks on private property - precisely why we need Mastodon and other open source apps to take their proper place at the center of our online communities

@bullivant Richard Dimbleby's BBC report on Belsen after its liberation is intense. What he we was reporting was so extreme they didn't want to broadcast but he threatened to resign if they shelved it.
@vitaminsludge @bullivant @georgetakei many interned by the British in Ilfracombe joined up and were only allowed in the Pioneer corps. Isle of Man seemed to have been not too bad. But UK invented the concentration camp used in South Africa first and just as deadly through disease in Malaya

Texas judge’s abortion pill decision cites research based on anonymous blog posts, cherry picks stats that exaggerate the negative physical & psychological effects of mifepristone & ignores hundreds of scientific studies attesting to the drug’s safety.
