It remains way past time to stop letting corporations unilaterally make a mess of the sky.

Astronomers are saying Musk's ridiculous number of satellites make the sky too bright for their work. And for, you know, regular people who like to look up and not corporate space junk instead of stars.

Torbay Pride 2023

Returns to Torquay on Saturday 2nd September, this free one-day family event will take place on Torre Abbey Meadows Torbay Road, Torquay, TQ2 5DG.

The Torbay Trojans have a stand at this event, so we can support the community and also hopefully attract some new players.

Further to my previous post, what is the likelihood that when these areas are rebuilt, the planners and builders etc take in to consideration the environment and:

Replace roads with road / tracks for trams to reduce traffic, make it so people can move around without the need for cars AND OR
Replace gas stations with electric car charging points
Ban the sale of Gasoline powered cars
Build all new homes with electric car charging points
Somehow design the towns with fire breaks, how about canals which are of course water, these could break up the town with water, which may in theory stop or at least slow down spread of fire
Build all new homes with solar panels and other energy saving designs so that everything is super efficient
Build more turbines or make use of water / hydro electric power, esp given Hawaii is an island

And other ideas that going forward will help the planet.

Firstly our thoughts should, of course, go out to the victims of the devastating fires in Hawaii. However when we reflect, we should consider that, looking at the before / after satellite images, mother nature has achieved in a few hours or days, what Putin managed to achieve in Ukraine in a few months of bombings etc.

Some of the satellite images of Ukraine bare a resemblance to what is left after these fires.

This should serve as a serious wake up call to everyone that we need to tackle the climate crisis immediately otherwise other places will suffer the same fate.

i went driving for the first time in quite a while and got (rightfully) honked at ;w;
was stressed about it the entire way, but look who came around and made my day!

Humans want to eliminate life where life originated—in the deep seas. Not enough to devastate the fish, we now want to devastate the sea beds, as we scavenge with our mega scrapers and buckets for our precious metals to build our “green” future. Mining companies are cheered as environmentalists. Mining is talked of as sustainable. Think of the devastation the mining oligarchs do on land. Now think of the devastation they will do in the deep seas, where their dirty work won’t be seen?

@zleap @gwagner it sounds very cool. Right now my biggest problem would be persuading my kids to even go through the door...

@transworld The climate crisis is big and scary and difficult. Far easier to fix "problems" that don't actually exist.
