In the GJ 436 system, which hosts a Neptune sized planet, galactic cosmic rays are dominated by stellar cosmic rays, because the planet lies relatively close in to the star (0.2 AU). The stellar cosmic rays lead to high ionization in the atmosphere.
Is there a Atemis II info graphic to go along side the Atemis III one you posted a while back please ?

@smallcircles @deadsuperhero @atomicpoet @b3n @timbray - and back on topic, it could also give brands a place to push things without being too intrusive - with the lack of an algorithm or purchase of ad space - brands will need to provide value to get followed. (not a bad idea, but will take time for the adaption)

@ianwalker just a little illustration from outside our school two days ago (can’t be bothered to hide number plates). Meanwhile our local park 200m away is completely flooded by unprecedented amounts of rain. I know the links are tangential but they are there and i wish people would see them but they just don’t

This Next-Generation Display Technology Is Going to Change the World
“Direct view, electroluminescent quantum dot displays. You can think of it like a traditional LED LCD or OLED display, but instead of LCD or OLED pixels, it's pixels made of just quantum dots. Note the far fewer layers, which theoretically should mean lower production costs and other benefits.” #Science #QuantumDots #Display #Nanotechnology

In a world not made for us, it is important we recognize that we may need extra time to recharge our batteries and that is ok. Burnout is real and can sneak up on you.

Cosmic rays coming from outside the astrosphere have to pass through these boundaries. But some cosmic rays, which we call anomalous cosmic rays, because they are only partially ionized and not fully ionized, can be created directly at the termination shock.
Klaus presents us with models of the astrosphere of LHS 1149, showing us how the boundaries can be pushed close to the star. In future, his group wants to expand the model to better include turbulent transport.

What I actually want from a brand on social media: that if my laptop gets damaged the shipment, the manufacturer will make it right.

Brands are already on Mastodon.
Specifically, brands that are targeting the "tech community".
They're in listening mode right now to "avoid any bad players or chances of upsetting a Mastodon community".

I knew quite a few people in hospitals at the beginning of the pandemic and every single one of them said that they'd never seen a wave of flu anything like what they were seeing, despite the supposedly high number of flu deaths that the CDC reports.
It's worth mentioning that flu deaths are only estimated, and are, in fact, overestimated every year.
Not only that, but the CDC adds in deaths *after* the acute phase of the flu, which of course is not the same as COVID deaths.
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/faq.htm
What it all adds up to is that COVID deaths are seriously undercounted(over 700 excess deaths per day in the US but only around half of those counted as COVID) and flu deaths are likely overcounted every year.

NASA’s Retired Compton Mission Reveals Superheavy Neutron Stars
"Astronomers studying archival observations of powerful explosions called short gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) have detected light patterns indicating the brief existence of a superheavy neutron star shortly before it collapsed into a black hole. This fleeting, massive object likely formed from the collision of two neutron stars."

Lab-grown alternatives aim to cut palm oil dependence

Shara Ticku: "In 2013 I flew to Singapore, and when I landed I had to wear a mask,". "The air was toxic because they were burning the rainforest in Indonesia."
Indonesian farmers, who were clearing land for palm oil and other crops, were blamed for the fires and the smoke that drifted across the sea to Singapore.
