Restricting children’s access to fiction showcasing same-sex relationships is ‘illegitimate,’ the European Court of Human Rights says.

Georgia election officials, supported by the Republican Party, tried to prevent 70,000 citizens from voting on a Saturday before the Senate runoff election. While Republicans didn’t get away with it, the fact that they tried should be a national outrage.

The closest exoplanet to Earth is only 4.2 light-years away. It's an Earth-sized world in the habitable zone of its small star, meaning liquid water *could* exist on the surface. Now, a possible second planet, Proxima Centauri c, is awaiting confirmation! https://go.nasa.gov/3woVXTu

Just a reminder that if your county or city is trying to ban books....run, don't walk, to your nearest #library to find out what exactly they don't want you to see. Because #libraries understand that banning knowledge never ends well for society. #censorship #books

#Google could give EACH of the 12,000 employees it just laid off a $1,000,000 severance and still have $5 BILLION in profits left over from its last quarter alone (Q4 profits were $17B)

Instead, they just dumped 12,000 people onto the job market, which affects everyone, in a society in which such things as healthcare rely on employment.

When are we going to stop giving corporations that leech off us a free pass on civic responsibility?

So, after half an hour fighting with the European Commission's website to provide feedback on the draft-proposal of the Cyber Resilience Act, I tried in Chromium and went through swimmingly. What does this tell us about how serious the EU institutions are about reigning in Google's quas-monopoly if the same institutions cannot be arsed to make their websites work on browsers like Mozilla Firefox?

This guy, Richard Barnett, who was pretty proud of himself for defiling Nancy Pelosi's office on January 6th, was just found guilty on all 8 charges against him.

I've just discovered that there's a petition on the #UK government petitions website to remove #LGBT content from the curriculum, effectively resurrecting the horrendous Section 28 from the 1980s.

There is also a counter-petition. As of this morning, the remove petition has over 178,000 signatures, the counter-petition has just over 2,500 signatures.

Please sign the counter-petition.

The truth is, the birdsite was turning into a churning toilet of right-wing trolling long before David Crosby died, which pained him greatly. David loved his Tesla, but I never stopped giving him shit about defending Elon (who he finally acknowledged is "a lunatic") and I'm not sorry.

This by Julian Gough:

“I wrote the End Poem for Minecraft, the most popular video game of all time. I never signed a contract giving Mojang the rights to the End Poem, and so Microsoft (who bought Minecraft from Mojang) also don't own it. I do.”

“…I am dedicating the poem to the public domain. You'll find it at the bottom of this post, along with a Creative Commons Public Domain dedication.”
