The way to honor Tyre Nichols is to never stop fighting for justice, to never give up on reform and progress, and to hold fully accountable not only the murderers but the system that gave them the power and the implied permission to take his life so violently and with such evil purpose.

Fuck you if you think calling the cops on trans minors running away from abuse will “help them”.

In no way, shape, or form will the police make life for them better. It will only exasperate the situation at best and end in a dead kid in the worst case.

We help kids escaping abuse by providing resources and safety.

What sits on your shoulder going "pieces of seven, pieces of seven"?

A parroty error.

Mastodon founder and CEO Eugen Rochko tells Engadget: “Third party applications are incredibly valuable for a platform because that's where the power users go … it benefits everybody because the power users are the people who create the content that everybody reads.”

Slack changed their slogan from "Be less busy" to "Where work happens" and both are lies, damn lies.

@atomicpoet

this thread has gotten very interesting.

the important takeaway imho is that no matter what destiny is, now that we've met, we should help each other keep creating new open platforms.

working together.

software doesn't interop unless people interop first.

we should not depend on one network, we should have lots of ways of routing around outages.

Oil and gas companies jacked up prices to line their own pockets at the expense of the American people.

Here is the recording of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reading the white moderate excerpt from his famous "Letter from a Birmingham Jail." This is the kind of radical anti-racist sentiments proposed by Dr. King that people continue trying to whitewash and erase.

“The police killing of #TyreNichols shows that we must change policing” - Opinion - The Washington Post

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/01/28/tyre-nichols-memphis-police-killing-reform/

“Police aren’t soldiers. Their job is policing. Their charge is to protect and serve. The American citizen is not an enemy, and if any soldier beat an enemy to death like Tyre Nichols was killed, the soldier would be charged as a war criminal under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).”

Bill is in the Commons now & will become law if majority of MPs want it to. It would be a fitting way to honour Ella Roberta as her 10th anniversary approaches on Feb 15.

Artists and scientists are people with basic human rights. It is not surprising to see them fighting for democracy. #Science and #art are political.
