@stiofi
Hi 🙂 Most of the seeds that I have got are from OpenSourceGardens - but I also bought some directly from breeders.

There are several ways to get seeds. We at
@opensourcegardens used to send out starter kits. OpenSourceGardens is a kind of group of people who like to support OpenSourceSeeds. So you could contact us to get some seeds - another way is to get in touch with the breeders. And there are also other growers or resellers.

swearing about satellites

Oh god I redid the math on re-entries:

Each Starlink v2 sat weighs 1250kg. They plan to have 42,000 of them in orbit.

Each satellite has a planned lifetime of 5 years. That means they'll be de-orbiting and replacing ALL of them every 5 years.

That comes to 23 sats per day, which is 29 TONS OF SATELLITE every day.

It doesn't go away, it gets added to the upper atmosphere. Most of the mass is aluminum. What the hell is that going to do?

WHY THE FUCK IS THIS OK?!

Do you like Mastodon's default user interface? Why? Why not?

Boosts for reach appreciated.

I called the #NewYorkTimes and cancelled my subscription this morning--I have a #nonbinary child. I told the very nice lady I spoke to why I was cancelling, and asked her to pass on to management that they were putting kids like mine in danger. She said she would pass that along, then offered me the editorial department's phone number so that I could also call them and let them know why I'd cancelled.

I did indeed call & leave a message. The number is 212-556-3652.

@zleap

Thank you, for the question. I did some quick research and came up with the below information:

The common goldeneye and the hooded merganser are both in the same family - Anatidae. But they are different species. The common goldeneye species name is B. clangula, while the hooded merganser species name is L. cucullatus.

The common goldeneye range includes North American, Europe, and Asia. The hooded merganser is found in North America.

Cheer! 🙂

It sucks... One of my trans friends recently finished residency and wants to open up a practice to provide trans healthcare. Despite being born and raised in Texas, and his family still living there, he's having to go elsewhere to work due to the very real threat of criminal prosecution for simply providing healthcare for people.

It's so much more than just trans healthcare, though. He's a family practice doctor. That means his queer and trans patients will have a doctor who knows about their bodies, their needs, he'll not get distracted by "trans broken arm syndrome". You'll know the staff won't deadname you, or misgender you. That you'll be seen as yourself, no matter what your gender or body is.

And that state, with thousands and thousands of trans and queer people desperately in need of this kind of care isn't going to get it. Because of hate. Because of bigotry. Because people like Greg Abbott, Dan Patrick, and Ken Paxton would rather queer people die than to have healthcare.

@rbreich I’m willing to consider child labor however lets put the Republicans in the food processing plant and let the children run the Iowa state legislator.

Today's front page of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat had some fun news -- A pen nib owned by Charles Schulz went on Artemis I around the moon and back, and is now back at the Schulz Museum! Mrs. Schulz and I received it yesterday.

Why hasn’t Governor Mike DeWine declared a state of emergency so that FEMA can start giving aid to residents of East Palestine, Ohio?

I'm pretty sure Mastodon is the first social network I've been on that didn't immediately ask me to betray all of the people in my address book.

Honestly, it's *really* hard to create a slow website when you actually use HTML and CSS.

Trying to create a demo site right now to illustrate how some DevTools performance tools can help speed it up, but unless I throw in a big framework in there, it's hard to make room for improvements.

Use HTML and CSS folks!

@SrRochardBunson those trans students aren’t gonna need their degrees bc they won’t have to work again after the lawsuits they are gonna file. Governors don’t have the right to your medical history
