Kind of a niche question for my #histodons friends: I’m talking about Abraham ben Yiju (12C Jewish merchant known from the Cairo Geniza) in class tomorrow, and I’m wondering how he would probably have been known in his own time. Would he have been Avraham as in modern Hebrew? Or Ibrahim as in Arabic?

I kind of suspect that if he was speaking Arabic, he’d have gone by Ibrahim—and we know he did his correspondence in Judaeo-Arabic—but it just struck me as something I didn’t know.
@tkinias should qualify that I meant he would have used Ibrahim in his day to day dealings regardless of what his parents would have called him.
