@Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social @LaNaehForaday , capitalism works great in some situations. If you want to go to the moon, build an internet, map the world, etc, I doubt there is a better system than capitalism. The problem is it also works to create efficient wars, spread diseases, undercut labor (and don't get me wrong, unions are pure capitalist constructs, I am not talking about them here) and literally incentivise pollution. We don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water. Without capitalism, the Corona Virus would still not have a vaccine. Polio would be spreading. Small pox would still be a thing. There are positive and negatives for every form of economies and government. Even a religious dictatorship has merit, in small ways, with the right conditions.
@LaNaehForaday , maybe... I misspoke, Small pox was ended by a fascist military dictatorship.
@JonKramer @Radical_EgoCom @LaNaehForaday every single corona vaccine was developed through funding from government created money. Capitalist companies are not responsible for that.
@duckwhistle @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social @LaNaehForaday , key word, "funding". That cash was developed through capitalism, and those funds were paid to corporations that are solidly capitalistic. It wasn't the State University of ____ that made or sold those vaccines. It was Pfizer, J&J, Moderna, etc.

This is why I keep saying to mind your own. Some dude on this thread some where got all butthurt and blocked me because.....feelings. I apologize to that bloke but I wasnt saying HIM as in him personally, its all of us as a whole.
There are too many of us with too much freedom that all believe we get to have the world exactly the way we want it and the way we judge it to be and should be is exactly right come hell or high water.
Again, OKEEEE but you just arent going to get that far. There are too too many of us to make everyone happy.
Because bottom line; there is nothing, no ism in all the world that is going to pop in and take over this bottomless pit of hunger we have developed for EVERYTHING. Capitalism is the only thing capable of quelling our spoiled beast.
Destroying things is not an option at this time, Nature is going to take care of that one for us. And maybe these virus indicate her power.
@LaNaehForaday @duckwhistle @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social , I don't mind being blocked. I know I am not everyone's cup of tea, and that's OK. I will bock others too, in fact I have a long list of reasons (32 of them, I think) that I use as my blocking gauge. Capitalism is... well... charming to so many. We love a good rags to riches story. We all just know that we are all just pre- millionaires. Education is the only thing that destroys those rose colored glasses.
@JonKramer @LaNaehForaday @Radical_EgoCom that's what I'm talking by harder things, destroying what we have is relatively easy compared to making sure people don't just replace it with an almost identical system.
@JonKramer @Radical_EgoCom @LaNaehForaday
Nope, when currency issuing governments spend money they create it.
@duckwhistle @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social @LaNaehForaday interesting theory. So why bother to collect taxes?
@JonKramer @Radical_EgoCom @LaNaehForaday collecing taxes destroys money, reducing the supply. If you put more money into the economy than their is demand for, you get inflation. Take too much out and you get deflation (and often unofficial currencies circulating).
Its part of Modern Monetary Theory (MMT), and it's mathematically sound.
MMT is much better for modeling economics than Neoliberalism, but like all economic theory it is lacking in the human behavioural aspect.
@JonKramer @Radical_EgoCom @LaNaehForaday well thats why its necessary, the actual motivation for governments to collect taxes is because they've always done it, and the idea government spending is entirely dependant on tax collection, gives justification to politicians for not investing in things that don't generate wealth for the rich people who fund lobbyists, and give political donations, (& kickbacks).
@JonKramer @Radical_EgoCom @LaNaehForaday nah, no merit to dictators. They dont contribute to society. No more Great Man Theory please.
@Flare @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social @LaNaehForaday military dictator Tito both contributed to the end of Nazies, and did end small pox. When the last outbreak happened, he shut down his country and threatened to shoot anyone who stepped outside. He mass vaccinated the nation. This ended small pox.
You may not praise the man, that is your choice. But, his system worked in a way no other system could have. This is just fact. Even a military dictatorship has its time and place when it is the best system of government. This is true for all systems humans have devised or imagined.
@JonKramer
You and I are on the exact same page.
