@sciencebase Budgie's 'In for the Kill' album would fit.
@sciencebase I've got it on right now. They're nowt like Deep Purple either.
@SteelFolk They are a little bit...but only in the way that a lot of early post-British-Blues-Explosion 70s stuff is...similar guitar sounds and riffs and solos, wailing vocals, minimalist drum kits, heavy bass.
@sciencebase I can hear 'Hush' and oddly much later with Tommy Bolin rather than Blackmore. No keyboards a bit unusual for then.
@SteelFolk Hush was from the 60s British-Blues-Explosion malarkey though, written 1967. Purple covered it in 68. We do a kinda Kula Shaker version without keys with my band ;-)
@sciencebase I realise I really meant 'Shades of.....' rather than 'Hush' alone. I've never heard 'Book of Taliesin' though. May have to think about it...
@SteelFolk I getcha
@SteelFolk Odd that Soft Machine did "The Tale of Taliesin"
Purple was the book, like you say, but they spelled it with a y Taliesyn
@SteelFolk Taliesyn is proto proggie nonsense...sounds awful, hahah
@sciencebase Just heard it streaming. I though Blackmore must have got it from somewhere, not just trying to impress Ms Knight with his pointy hat. Urrgh.
@SteelFolk It was 7th Century poetry or something?
@sciencebase I'm afraid we did it at junior school. I had to sing in it.
@sciencebase It is mind-numbingly bad. I offer only P Harum's 'Something Magic' as something worse.
@SteelFolk Oh, yes! Hahah
