@neverfadingwood I know it has never been that cold since I moved here to Tel Aviv. It might get that cold up north, or in the high deserts like the Negev or the Judean desert, though.

@Surasanji @neverfadingwood I realized it wasn't intentional, but this resolves a lot of unanswered questions.

I often don't like asking questions, as someone who doesn't like offending people.

@LWFlouisa @neverfadingwood It is someone else's issue if they are offended by an honest question. Ask away! :)

@Surasanji @neverfadingwood Well yea true, I had such an unintentional scuffle on this other place. It jut get kind of taken as "Why are you saying a whole nation looks like this" when that isn't what I mean.

It seems to be Hebrews, since Jew has a negative connotation, look more ... white than a lot of middle easterners. But still more Eastern than Europeans.

But it gets confusing, when it seems like, particularly Spaniards, French, and Italians (to me Greeks look Turkish, which is hot in its own way), almost look like Hebrew sometimes.

It's not universally the case. But it always gets taken wrong if I say I really dig me some French girls.

So I often, just prefer to avoid asking. But the different heats of the middle east explains a lot.

@LWFlouisa @neverfadingwood The Jewish people carry a number of looks, depending on where they're from in the world. They were moving out of the land of Judea and Canaan through all of the bronze age. Ashkenaziim (That is German Jews) moved north, while spanish and eastern (Sefardi and Misrahi) Jews moved south, and east. We got as far as China, live in India, and once we had vibrant populations throughout all of the Arab and African world.

Over time, of course, those things changed. Skin color isn't really that accurate of a genetic marker to tell where someone came from. Genetically, all Jews- regardless where they are now- can typically trace their genetic lines back to the Levant.

We are the descendants of the aboriginal, Canaanite people of this region.

@Surasanji Yea I figured as much, one friend of mine in grade school belonged to a family of blond haired blue eyed jews.

By contrast, I'm as... American as a wild buffalo, but I tan like I was baked in a brownie pan for fourteen years.

@LWFlouisa Yeah, people's skin color tends to be more a function of where they live and the amount of sunlight they get, versus other genetic factors. It really isn't the best way to determine one's genetic heritage, although it is certainly a part of that.
