the shorted stonks are finally going down but Fidelity apparently refused to collude now shitposters are buying more stonks despite the trend

what a strange world where anons buy stonks and banks burn

apparently there are STILL MORE shorts on gamestop or something?

they are talking about if they hold the value above 200$ another couple days, another bank is going to collapse? :blobcatwut:

@icedquinn It makes no sense to me, shorting makes stock prices go down not up normally. so I have to wonder why the reverse is happening here.

@freemo because reddit found out wall street was trying to crash gamestop for a quick profit, and decided to start buying stocks in (distributed) masses.

which caused the value to rocket, and when the margins were called in a hedge fun was KO'd.

@icedquinn yea im aware of the story a bit (didnt really look into it too much).. but what you just describe would be them long-ing the stocks (buying) not shorting.

@freemo hedge funds are holding short, anons are holding long.
@icedquinn @freemo they think things will turn their way but their corrupt attempts to "stabilize" the stock will further radicalize people
@georgia @freemo the coversups are often worse than the crimes :cirno_sip:

although who knows, maybe the other hedges were already committed by the time it happened and they're panicking.

@icedquinn

It seems contrary to how brokers are reacting then.. brokers are allowing the long buys on the stocks right now but have only blocked shorting the stocks. If it is as you say the brokers and bank shorting and getting mad their getting screwed then I would have expected the brokers not to block shorts and still permit longs (which is what is hurting the banks/brokers).

@georgia

@freemo @georgia some of the trade platforms blocked buying GME entirely.
@freemo @georgia basically, Capital called up Robin hood after shorting and extorted them in to banning trade. Then ?someone? is going around extorting the other apps in to doing the same. This is pretty overt collusion :blobcatlul:

there's one or two (Fidelity?) that refused and is still letting people trade as normal
@freemo @georgia reportedly some of the smaller apps are trying to roll it back now, 'cause you know. crimes, and losing all their users.

@icedquinn

I need more info to judge, but freezing in the face of high volatility isnt a crime its standard.. but it seems there is more to it i need to know before i excuse it.

@georgia

@freemo @georgia The SEC didn’t freeze it. Neither did the market.

Capital is going around strong arming the apps to freeze while also issuing its own transactions.

Follow

@icedquinn

Ahh then yea i can see why that could be a problem.. though as I said seems on my end of the three borkers I used they only froze short selling and none of them froze anything else (you could still exist shorts, buy long, and sell long)... So really not sure what any of that would accomplish, those who went short would make a killing by just waiting.

@georgia

@freemo @icedquinn >by just waiting
that's why there's exhortations to hold the line
@freemo @icedquinn @georgia except there's a shitload of misconceptions though. For one, many brokers including my own didn't completely "freeze" trading, but put restrictions on trading with margin and options shit.

@denza252

yea they have mostly either restricted short sells, or put the maintenance margin at 100%, but of the three brokers I use none of them had a complete freeze.

@icedquinn @georgia

@freemo @icedquinn @georgia ngl my current contrarianism is at least 30% because of the massive influx of tards who didn't read shit and don't understand how things work then whining about stuff in the normally decent built-in chat and shitting it up with their idiocy.
