in a weird position when it comes to crypto because nothing i'm doing is actually illegal it's just that banks have decided to intercede for no reason.

qoto was over there in an argument about the 'sexism' of classifying female nipples as nudity and it's like okay but this is imposed by hosting companies and bankers. you don't get the option to say otherwise or you lose your merchant account.

@icedquinn That is a valid point in general... but instances on the fediverse dont usually have "merchant accounts", they receive donations sometimes but not through any means that makes these sorts of stipulations that I know of.

@freemo kofi has strict rules and you're explicitly not allowed to link from a page with forbidden content to kofi even if kofi isn't hosting or referencing back to the forbidden content.

patreon has an ever growing list of arbitrarily forbidden things and they have banned people for off site conduct (Sargon) that also didn't even reference the site.

both of those are pretty common platforms. (blob used to have a patreon too but it was censored for reasons i'm not privvy to)

@freemo a lot of instances also pass through hetzner which has a policy of immediately terminating accounts if they decide they saw porn on it.

@icedquinn Make sure you mention all this on the repo then so it can be taken into consideration when making a decision:
