yeah, I sometimes wish I could have a Remington Steele to get me more compensation and recognition for my work.

but I see the need for representation and visibility for those coming up...so I am openly female around my work, as much as possible.

I didn't always do this.

In my early days in online forums with other coders, I was not openly female.

When it came out that I was a woman, things changed.

It was so frustrating for me.

I just wanted to code and make art and do my stuff.

But so many dudes just flipped out.

I remember this 'speaker dinner' at a conference, and this one dude had his camera on me the whole time, like I was a bird on a marsh.

Eventually I turned and said "I'm eating! Could you just stop already!"

@kristinHenry I'm so sorry to read this, but I guess the most direct solution is better gender balance... and convincing male coders of the need to have a decent life
