@yogthos @clacke @swiley
In European/American propaganda:
* When China start to have income from harbours cities : China don't care about Far western regions, they are the poorest part of the country
* When China build infrastructure in Western China, and start exchange from Xinjiang to Europe by trains: Chinese made infrastructures to invade Western territories of China and kill the local culture. I can't the number of languages, scripts, religions I meet around China, all really actively used, and the fast progress of life level year after year.

I far I know, there is women mosques only in China, illiteracy disappear, all people have retirement at around 50 to 60 years old depending on kind of work and sex. Lot of Chinese friends come back from France to China to have a better life.

@popolon @yogthos@mastodon.social @clacke I'd be a little more willing to believe some of this stuff if journalists and reporters were allowed into the country and if the government didn't manipulate social media and the internet the way it does. Right now I just have to take your/the government's word for it and that's not great. I would feel the exact same way if the US or any of its allies did this.

@swiley @yogthos @clacke
As in

A simple exemple is the free speech of Trump, even for worst things, and just after its destitution, the closing of it's accounts. There are several political parties mass closing in Europe from American social networks. What's App, and Podemos in Spain, or Twitter , managed if France by a woman frome the presidential party, that close every opposition accounts. The censorship in France at Television as a high level too, but you only know it if you are in opposition or activist.

@popolon @yogthos@mastodon.social @clacke I'm unaware of speech against trump being censored. Even NPR: the public radio here was talking about him "eating crayons." No one was fired and they still get government money. France has a lot of issues and I never said they didn't, but they are allowing reporters in.

@popolon @yogthos@mastodon.social @clacke Can you point me to some? Maybe it was jst American journalists that aren't allowed in.

Follow

@popolon @yogthos@mastodon.social @clacke As far as I can tell she isn't actually in China

@popolon @yogthos@mastodon.social @clacke So show me one saying the west misunderstands the situation with the ughur people.

@swiley @yogthos @clacke I just searched randomly, but French one was really in China, perhaps Us is blocked, that's not a bad choice, after all the war they made around the world...

@popolon @clacke @yogthos@mastodon.social My french is only slightly better than my Chinese so I can barely understand what they're saying. But show me a journalist in any language from a free country saying that the Chinese government isn't committing genocide against the ughar people then.

And I absolutely agree with you: the behavior of the US against the rest of the world is unacceptable. I don't agree with half of what our government does and often vote against politicians known to perpetuate violence.

@swiley @clacke @yogthos aah, you said that foreign journalists wasn't able to go to china, I show you some foreign that are in china you say they are not in china, but I looked again, this is really picture of Wuhan, at least the same kind of street of bus behind her... I don't care about western propaganda, As say, this is just random willing of war propaganda.

@popolon @clacke @yogthos@mastodon.social I know the US has made propaganda in the past, some of it has been serious and used cover up atrocities. It would be good if you could convince me that's happening here because what I've heard about China is absolutely horrific and I would really like to know that it's not real.

Unfortunately they have exhibited the common patterns of an extremely authoritarian government trying to cover up violence. It's hard to trust things when they work so hard to manipulate people and hide things.

@swiley @clacke @yogthos They still made propaganda, still in Syria, with backing Daesh, and now in China by backing former daesh Uighur from Afghanistan...

@popolon @clacke @yogthos@mastodon.social What the US does in Syria makes me very angry and I didn't vote for the people who allowed that.

@popolon @clacke @yogthos@mastodon.social Yes, I feel that way too. The US has done a lot to further terrorism in Asia. I think that in addition to this the Chinese government is committing genocide against it's people and imprisoning and maiming people for disagreeing with the government. I haven't seen *anything* to make me think this isn't the case.

@swiley @clacke @yogthos They already said that about Tibetans, everything show the opposite, including population statistics. If you go to China, you will see Tibetan temples in lot of place with lot of Tibetan, Mongolian and other minorities practitioners, including several big temples build under Qing China or Yuan China. That's Khubilai Khan, that make Tibetan Buddhism a state religion in whole china, even Marco Polo describe Phagpa when it go to Beijing (at this time Khanbalik/Qanbaliq (Cambaluc in Marco Polo texts).

@popolon @clacke @yogthos@mastodon.social Do the statistics come from the Chinese government? This wouldn't be the first time they've faked data. I had a professor who was an ex-patriot of China and would talk at length about this.

That there are buildings says nothing about the people. I could build a temple in Virginia today and that would change nothing about who lives there.

@swiley @clacke @yogthos The fact is the current dalai-lama (chinese name for what who is called Tenzin Gyatso by tibetans), (is name is Lhamo Dhondup) was backed by CIA, as his brother Gyalo Thondup said, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyalo_Thondup. They both are born in Qinghai, that was in China during their birth, from a rich Monks family (reincarnation is just a mean to keep a power title in a clan in Tibet). Most people was slave during they power, historian (from the whole planet estimate between 60 to 90% of the population was slave. Only young boys that ender in monastery young and that was sexual objects for older monks can have access to literacy.

@popolon @clacke @yogthos@mastodon.social I've been having a very difficult time understanding you but I'm going to try to summarize what I believe the most recent iteration of your argument is:

The US has planted or manipulated a religious leader in China and that excuses the violence the government has committed against its people.

I would like to point out that this kind of thing is considered so dangerous here that it is illegal and any member of the government gets in a lot of trouble just for suggesting that we attack our own people based on religion. In the west we've found this creates so many problems that many countries (including the US) consider this one of the fundamental principles of our government. That is: the government protects people of all religions, including and especially the most misguided ones.

@swiley @clacke @yogthos Any country that have violent army backed by foreign country, especially from US, will try to stop him sure.

@popolon @clacke @yogthos@mastodon.social Who will the US try to stop? The Dalai Lama?

@swiley @clacke @yogthos The China, stopped the tibetan guerrilla backed by US trained in US.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chushi_Gangdruk

as part of the CIA Tibetan program
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIA_Tibetan_program

The ethnics attacks against muslims Hui in lhasa in 2008 was still by the former oligarchy. European/US TV showed picture of police beating people in Nepal, as a proof that chinese beat people in Tibet. Tibetan lievee far better now, than under Dalai lama & Qing dynasty or mongolian rulers (including Qoshots and Zungars).
@swiley @clacke @yogthos One of the sister of the Dalai lama maintained a school in india for "help" young tibetans, if they wanted to learn in this school they had to sign in the independency fighting army as some wikileaks cables showed.

Dalai Lama and Panchen Lama going to the Beijing parliament where he made a speech, and meeting Mao Zedong, Zhu Enlai, and some other

He has the true dalai lama silk and embroidering ceremony costume in Qing dynasty stile, and, not the simple one as most monks.

@popolon @clacke @yogthos@mastodon.social We have movements like this in the US. But you don't see the government going through West Virginia and Texas jailing and killing people for being part of them.

Yes, in the past it the US government was involved with these people but that doesn't justify what the Chinese government is doing.

and if it did why aren't journalists talking about it? There are many news organizations who's existence is more or less justified by them countering mainstream culture and the government and none of them have argued against the existence of genocide by the Chinese government.

@popolon @clacke @yogthos@mastodon.social Yes, yes I do. In fact these movements have gone so far as to inhabit our capitol building in D.C. with violent people and weapons.

@popolon @clacke @yogthos@mastodon.social That there are radical people who own weapons and scare people here is an important indication that we are still a free country.

The people in charge are supposed to be afraid of the people they govern.

@swiley @clacke @yogthos The US is the country with most prisoners in world, with about 2 millions, and most of them come from minorities and are just slave, you should read the history of the end of slavery in your country. That's about the time of creation of temporary work agencies, and industrialisation of jails.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kids_for_cash_scandal

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_U.S._prison_strike

@popolon @clacke @yogthos@mastodon.social I'm well aware of our prison problem and it's something I talk about with my peers often.

That the US has moral failings does not at all mean China does not have them. Most importantly I cannot go to prison for something I write on qoto.org which as I understand is not the case in China.

@clacke @swiley @yogthos

As is said in these serie of videos in Hong Kong, his first language is chinese, from Nanjing, as that was the official language of Republic of China...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5kZGhDccDY

@popolon @clacke @yogthos@mastodon.social I really wish I could understand that or had a tool to automatically translate it. I tried to learn hanzi a number of summers ago because I was working on regulatory compliance software for some radio equipment and China was a country were really struggling with. But I have absolutely no idea what they're saying or how it's relevant.

@swiley @yogthos @clacke I look again the video why for do you thing she is not in China ? How to prove that something doesn't exists ?

@popolon @clacke @yogthos@mastodon.social You can't prove something doesn't exist but she never said she was in china.

@swiley @clacke @yogthos At least you can see the french inside population, even if they have translators because they don't speak a word of chinese.

@popolon @clacke @yogthos@mastodon.social Then show me a french video where they argue that there is no genocide.

@swiley @clacke @yogthos I said the french was in china, as you said there are no journalists in China, French journalists and govt follow US willings.
