Or perhaps a better plan, don't use websites support your local highstreet instead. Providing that the installed CCTV is for catching criminals and not for tracking customers and what they buy. Free wifi should be for internet not for tracking customers either. We are people not products.
Of course if the CCTV highlights problems with shop layout then fine, you can use that data to re-arrange the shop so higher volume items are in a certain place.
This is the problem, CCTV is great for catching people so they can be prosecuted for shoplifting or similar but the technology is open to abuse, this means it gets a bad reputation and at times it is really needed.
On a positive note, home cctv built in to doorbells are really good for catching meteors or other interesting things like wildlife etc, whuch is really cool.
@zleap assuming the local shops still exist after being stomped on by the unnaturally low pricing of retailers such as Amazon & WalMart
Yeah, this is the issue Shops here are closing as they can't afford to stay open due to rising costs of energy to keep places open.
@zleap @paulkruczynski Every time surveillance or other technologies has been deployed to catch law breakers it has been repurposed by others, usually the state, to monitor others.
