@wolf480pl Agreed. When I was first hearing about it, it was through the filter of FOSS people mainly complaining that it made Linux installs harder. I get where they were coming from, but it's not a bad idea and you can generally disable Secure Boot. The rest of it was from the "M$ is evil" camp, so not unbiased about the tech itself.
@izaya
@Bendodroid @izaya he's right that you don't need a disk controller if you don't have a disk or equiv storage medium. That's obvious. I think you still have a file system though: it serves an organizing function for disparate data that isn't readily served by a single application bc a given object (say, a PDF) can be used by multiple applications.
@Bendodroid @izaya some things to think about. I have to say it was odd for Proven to keep harping on how successive generations were "worse" even when they met the market and were successful given he framed the "evolution" in biological terms. Understood his meaning -- the newer machines has reduced performance on some metrics -- but the shift he's talking about isn't better or worse: it's more like left, right, or widdershins wrt to where we are now
I made a point in #cashflowforcreators of saying that it's okay for you to practice your craft for joy and that it didn't have to be a side hustle, or *any* kind of hustle. That joy is sufficient reason to do a thing.
Half of my first readers said they had never been told this. This makes me very sad.
If your art brings you joy, DO IT. Maybe you'll never make a penny off it, and that is totally OK.
Doing things for the joy of it is vital.
@mingtang I could see how that would be a concern. The weirdest thing to me about that story was that it was paired with stories like that described here: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2015/09/why-drivers-in-china-intentionally-kill-the-pedestrians-they-hit-chinas-laws-have-encouraged-the-hit-to-kill-phenomenon.html
I could understand not helping injured victims as a result of the bystander effect, but the "hit to kill" thing made me sick. Like, I can't imagine myself or anyone who isn't already a hardened criminal killing someone like that.
@mingtang howdy. I recall reading a few years ago that many Chinese people avoid helping the injured for fear of getting taken advantage of, even when they had nothing to do with the injury. It seems to be "a real thing" (http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1072095.shtml). Is it something that you've ever been affected by or is it something you've had to consider?
@freemo ever use xmonad? You basically have to learn Haskell to do anything beyond really basic mods to the default config
@freemo I had the same thought recently. I usu just use the hadamard product though. Or define an op if I need it a lot
Does someone has experience with one of these brands ?

@mikelga ah squid. Weird. It makes juice, huh?
@mikelga hmm. Qu'est-ce que c'est?
@freemo I actually tried doing something like that - just playing with LA - but with adjacency matrices. It's to help with relearning linear algebra as part of an applied math independent study.
@izaya cool looking vg. Is it based on star wars?
@iankenway well, Debian.
