I use "lies" - especially when people refer to it as "AI". If you're going to give it credit for intelligence - I'm going to attribute malice where appropriate.

In the US they called it the Miata, because that sounds exotic and European.
In Europe they called it the MX5 because that sounds exotic and Japanese.

Your math checks. By way of comparison, at light speed circumnavigating the earth would be about 1/7th of a second.
Nowhere close to relativistic. But the real problems would be the atmosphere, and cargo. That is "burn up in the atmosphere" speeds easily - and acceleration/deceleration. Barring some magic tech - people go in, goo comes out. Soylent green.
We'd be fine on the interplanetary exploration - higher chance of launch fails, but after the few minutes in the danger zone the probe should be free of danger from Kessler syndrome shenanigans. But yes, anything that depends on an extended presence in orbit - especially LEO - would be messed up for a long time.
Learning to *not* catch the ball is a difficult but vital lesson.

A coworker once asked what I was reading and I said LOTR. He expressed surprise, thought I'd have read it, and I said re-reading it every 5 years or so is a tradition of my people. He asked, "Your people?" And I said, "The huge nerds."
And a grad student who was rotating in the lab not only nodded with recognition but subsequently joined the lab, where she produced a superstar PhD.
From a pure physics pov - if you want high frame rate "flawless" (reading that as low latency) mouse/keyboard support - you want local hardware. The alternative is a local frankenbox, as per usual. But i think you'll be surprised at how performant the steam deck is.

Honestly - as a Red Hat Certified Engineer (which is worth just as much as the ink to print the PDF, work got to pay for it) - I can't think of any vital, or even important *technology* they have a lock on. They have mindshare among executives, but so does Microsoft, as far as that goes.
Given any choice, I avoid the red hat family entirely, and it doesn't slow me down.
Sadly - is red hat *worse* than, say, debian? I can't tell you for sure, but with red hat, *I know how the sausage is made*. At least I'm not paying the red hat tax.

Point is - trust nothing. Re-verify what you're told. Even if they're smart. *Especially* if they're smart. Smart people like to assert what they believe is true as being verified truth, and often get offended you'd doubt them. Step on toes and confirm base assumptions.
The big revelation for me, way back in the day, was this: users lie. Frequently. Not out of malice (usually) but because they don't understand, or don't think what you are suggesting will help or is really necessary, or they are sure the issue lies elsewhere. I can't tell you how many times when I used to do phone support (Quarterdeck Phone Techs Represent!) I'd have the following conversation:
Me: ok, I need you to reboot your computer.
Them (quickly): done!
Me: hmm that was very fast. Did you reboot?
Them (offended); of course i did!
Me: funny. I didn't hear the windows startup noise I heard when we rebooted before.
Them: ... oh, *reboot*. No, I just closed and re-opened the window.
Me: ಠ_ಠ
A co-worker of mine once told a customer that if he wasn't going to follow directions that was fine, he could call back later when he was ready to do so. Legend.
I typically insist on a screenshot or at least cut-and-paste of the error message in context, and ideally with the command or activity they dud to trigger it. It can be stunning how often the issue is just a typo that was missed because they stared at it for too long - and I am guilty of that myself.
